URGENT AUSTIN ACTION:

PICK UP YOUR PHONE NOW!!

Yesterday, the Budget Conference Committee heard and voted on the majority of the state budget. However; they have decided to place Rider 48 as "Pended." Meaning there will be a separate hearing THIS AFTERNOON to vote on Rider 48 and a few other budget items.

As a reminder, Rider 48 will limit the use of state funds to subsidize or assist in construction of HSR, but it does allow for oversight and coordination. If TCR can't afford to pay for their "private" project, we shouldn't have to.

Pick up the phone RIGHT NOW and call the members of the Budget Conference Committee. All you have to tell their staff is your name (you can also speak for your spouse to be counted as two in support), that you support Rider 48, and what city you live in.

CALL NOW!!! SHARE THIS POST!!!

Ironically, TCR has made it very clear they intend to use state funds for the project they have been touting as "entirely privately funded." Despite their extensive team of lobbyists who have been working behind the scenes, they are now asking Texans to contact their legislators to OPPOSE Rider 48, which would prohibit use of state funds for subsidizing or assisting with construction but allow coordination and oversight of HSR projects. Rider 48 is simply a taxpayer protection. If TCR can't afford to pay for their project, we shouldn't have to.

If not having access to state funds makes their project cost prohibitive, their main selling point of "entirely privately funded" is just as misleading as their information on routes and station locations. Check out what the Federal Railroad Administration had to say about this "premature" information. http://impactnews.com/houston-metro/the-woodlands/corridors,-station-stops-too-soon-to-call/

One last thing ... Dallas Mayor Rawlings and TCR have been promoting this rider as "trickery." Riders are provisions within the budget that specify how state funds can and cannot be used. No trickery...it's part of the process.

If you haven't already, please TAKE ACTION NOW by visiting our website where you can email the budget committee members directly to voice your support for Rider 48 by clicking this link: http://www.texansagainsthsr.com/opposition-letters/conference-committee-letters

WALKER, SAN JACINTO and LIBERTY Counties!!!
Dallas Houston HSR: For? Against? Either way, we can agree that taxpayers shouldn't pay for a private rail project.

Please take less than 48 seconds to email Rep. John Otto directly from our website to let him know you are from his district and you support State Budget Rider 48.

http://www.texansagainsthsr.com/derail-hsr-letters

Proposed State Budget Rider 48 will simply hold Texas Central Railway to their pledge of not seeking state or federal subsidies by ensuring TxDOT will not utilize state funds to subsidize or assist in the construction of high-speed passenger rail projects in Texas.

PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH FRIENDS IN WALKER, SAN JACINTO and LIBERTY COUNTIES!
