Within the last two weeks, I've had five people tell me I should start a Kickstarter project for my little screen printing business.

I've thought about it, and it might actually be a good idea. As it is, I print everything on the island by the kitchen sink.  The family understands, but they really hate the mess it makes of the sink, island, and dining room (I end up using the dining room table too). It's kind of dangerous, because our 2-year-old is very inquisitve and 'grabby.' On top of this, the kitchen sink is really too small to clean the screens and do the dying anyway. I'd like to take it to the garage, by there is no drainage there.

So, I was thinking, maybe I could raise some money to get an actual 4-color screen printing machine. Currently, I do my screens up with canvas stretcher bars and staple screen print fabric as tightly as I can, and then do the best I can with registration. The machines are just a few hundred dollars.

I was also thinking of getting a little assistance to get some drainage in to the garage, so I could buy a work sink and use it in there.

I was thinking something in the $1,000 - $1,300 range.  The drainage itself would be about 3,000 - but I don't see much likelihood in being able to raise enough for that.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

1, Would a Kickstarter project for something like this fly?
2. What would be be good rewards for various levels?

It's 50 years since the release of The Beatles' second feature film, Help! Whatever you may think of the film itself (which got very mixed reviews) this rollicking film of "good, clean insanity" provides a wonderfully unique window on to the social changes that men saw in the 1960s.

Thought it was funny to see the STart magazine cover in there.

34 weird vintage photos of women in tiny miniskirts at huge old computers

The notion that sex sells tech was exploited to grotesque ends in the sixties and seventies. During these decades, workplace computers were large as the proverbial New York City apartment, and the people who operated those machines could afford to live in a New York city apartment, but this blog post is not about real estate and I digress.

*Mommy + Daddy + Science = Me! (with atom symbol) onesie

So what is this all about?

In vitro fertilization for the win!
Mommy plus daddy plus science equals me (with atom symbol) onesie design

A little about the onesies

Screen printed on Carter's infant body suits. All body suits are printed on demand. You may request other ink colors. You may also request other body suit colors; however, they will be hand dyed and the hue may vary. Let me know what you would like in the Notes to Seller section or via a Convo and I will let you know if I can fulfill the request.

Note that in general, any special colors will have to be dyed by hand. I use Dharma Procion fiber reactive dye. Procion actually dyes the fiber, rather than laying a coat of color on the outside of it. This makes it color fast and safe, if your child decides that the clothes look yummy.

One point to note about it though is that it only dyes natural fibers; therefore, if there are (for example) polyester threads in the garment, they won't be dyed. This actually leads to quite a nice looking effect when it happens.

Another thing to note is that I might have to order the color that you desire, and that could add a few days to the time.

I'm thinking of going down to Leopard ST here in Corpus and charging people $5.00 not to show them my body.

Atari 8-bit 8K BASIC "Hello World" tee
Save 20% with GPLUS20

http://thewitsend.aliboom.com/Atari_8-bit_8K_BASIC_Hello_World_tee/p3224001_13986916.aspx

So what is this all about then?

Show your passion for Atari 8-bit computers!

This tee has a modified 'Hello World' program in Atari 8K BASIC. The image is offset on the shirt to mimic the X,Y coordinates of the home position of the Graphics 0 screen.

About the shirts themselves

These shirts are screen printed on heavy weight pre-shrunk 100% cotton or a lighter weight cotton/poly blend, depending upon what is available at the time of order.  If you desire a specific type (cotton or cotton/poly) please leave me a note with your order and I'll do everything I can to fulfill your request. All shirts are printed on demand. This shirt will generally be screened, heat set, and shipped within one to three days of your order.

At the moment, the shirts are sourced locally; and we attempt to use Gildans or Jerzees; however, we will also use  Hanes or Fruit of the Loom tees if that is all that is available in a particular size. We can accept special requests; if you want a different color or type of shirt or ink, if you'd like the graphic to be a different color than the text, we'll be happy to work with you, just send us a note and let us know.

For special orders, please understand that since we currently source our tees locally, we can't guarantee the availability of a particular color in all sizes.  This is normally only a problem in sizes larger than XL.  In addition, for the women's fitted shirts, we currently have no control over whether the shirt will be scoop neck or v-neck.  Contact us and we'll do everything we can to get you the shirt you actually desire.

Size charts

I generally use Gildan or Jerzees - though I will occasionally purchase Hanes or Fruit of the Loom if that is all that is available in the color and size combination that you request.

Size means your actual body measurement. When in doubt or if you fall in between sizes, order a size up.

How the garments are measured

Garment Dimensions: Lay the garment flat and double the measurements shown to get the circumference of the shirt. Compare that to your actual body measurement and allow room for movement. Manufacturers allow for a tolerance of + or - 1 inch. When in doubt or if you fall in between sizes, order a size up.

This is a duplicate, but I'm setting up the blog for the store.
Using coupons at the online store Using a coupon at http://thewitsend.aliboom.com for the first time can be confusing. What is the problem? You find an item that you like and decide to purchase it, so you put it in the cart ...
