I'm not sure yet what I think of the new Google Camera UI but eh, at least the real "Settings" like resolution and GPS are under a real settings activity, where you can see wtf you're doing.

I kinda miss the old zoom reticle though as it reminded me of the terminator :'(.

Not the only hole in this article IMHO but the tl;dr would be because Android did it smart early on rather than being stupid in the first place.

For several years now, mobile device manufacturers have been in a race to push the pixel density of mobile devices higher and higher. The race began with the iPhone 4 “Retina” display – an at the time impressive 330 pixels per inch (PPI) 960x480 3.5” display.

sigh  No, it did not.

Android started it on modern smart phones, with the original Droid that was 240dpi, and the platform itself introduced the robust multi-density support we have today a bit before that in 1.6, including full support for retina class and the ever increasing densities we see today.

But you know what?  It doesn't make sense to say that Android started this, either.  In fact Android from the start had core support for multiple display densities (through the dp units and such), but this happened because of previous experience at PalmSource where Palm devices had already experienced increases in display density, going from the original ~80dpi screen to high resolution 160dpi screens, and then trying to deal with 120dpi screens to be able to use then pervasive 240x320 panels.

The troubles of that last step -- trying to implement 1.5x scaling on a system where apps are using absolute layout of UI elements in pixel coordinates and the resulting strange rounding artifacts -- is a major element of what drove Android's original design.  To be able to do non-integral scalings well, Android relies on layout managers to do final placement of UI elements, which run at the native screen resolution.  The use of layout managers not only makes it a lot easier for applications to adjust to different screen sizes, but also allows scaling screen density by non-integral amounts without causing odd spacing between interface elements or having to use sub-pixel positioning of all elements and the resulting anti-aliasing artifacts.

Up to a point, I'd like this. Mostly the reason to have multiple shares on the same stream is for the commentary's at each one -- which isn't always the case.

Honest suggestion for Google+:

Given that we have an algorithm to aggregate how many people +1'd something, I don't think it'd be too much of a technical leap for Google to aggregate when a lot of people in a stream share/reshare the same post. Maybe even linked articles.

So instead of a full stream of, like today, Android Camera update shares we could simply see the original post (perhaps the number of people that shared it increases the priority) and up top see that Joe Schmoe, Bill whoever and blah blah are the ones that reshared that post, and you can simply click and get a listview of what Joe Schmoe etc had to add to it when they shared it.

Introduction
As to myself, well I'm a computer geek that loves my beautiful Firefly. If I'm not spending time with her, then I'm probably coding, eating, learning, or reading; often a combination.

Pretty much self educated on most things since grade 3'ish and currently working as a programmer. Pretty much fluent in a bunch of languages and if we limit it to just "Programming" languages', I'm able to bring about a dozen of them to bear on a project at will. Throw in other crap like SQL and HTML and we're pushing 20+. I am particularly found of C, Perl, and I don't think I know anyone that knows more about portable /bin/sh scripting than I do....

Coding is enough to me that if I was stranded on an island, I wouldn't write S.O.S. with rocks, I'd make my own assembly language to entertain myself until rescue!

Outside of code, I love to read and learn. Especially fond of science fiction and technology and you will often find me memorized in something. Kill a blond with a train by asking a question near train tracks, do same to me by by triggering a think-on lol. Much of my youth was spent all but walking into people, while trying to figure out crap like how to make mecha (ala Mobile Suit Gundam and MechWarrior) possible. Most of what I know about math comes from that.

Games and movies are big interests for me, I've also got a thing for zombies, and that's how I met the Firefly that I loves so much: Left 4 Dead.

I also know quite a bit about room clearing and SWAT type stuff. More than a civilian probably has a right to. Got several thousand hours practicing in simulation games as an element and some "Practice" in the real world without live ammunition.

It is my belief that once we stop learning, we start dying.

Coming from an Italian background, well, let's just say food is in my blood, period!

And I think if anyone parses all this, you're as bad as I am :P

We ordered delivery from this place and I noticed two things: very polite folk and the portion size gets my seal of approval! Having an Italian mother, well, I come from a tradition of filling people well and this place knows how to do that most excellently :-). Vs stuff I've had else where this is more like home made with love & care. Sometime when I'm out that way, I must stop in for lunch. Definitely eating there again!!!!! Disclaimer: don't know there decore as this was delivery. Will try editing it someday when I can visit.

Great (fresh) food, nice service. I haven't tried the pizza yet (yeah, I know) but for everything else, I gotta say, they pack the food nice. Reminds me of my Italian mother :-). If I could go out to lunch everyday, I would live here!

I've been with Dr. Carr since 2009. It's the same great people at Carr Eye Care and Coweta Eye Care. Always have had great service and attentive care here, Dr Carr is also an O.D. that you can have a fine, relaxed time dealing with and someone I trust with my vision quality. He's also very fond of his lovely chihuahua ;) My only complaint is I'm now living over 70 miles away, but I ain't finding a new eye doctor!

They have a large selection of cloths, ranging from ACU and 3-color DCU to older woodland BDUs and solids; including boonie hats in everything! Prices vary from normal to great buys. Only a moderate selection of boots and MOLLE/tactical gear but the prices are excellent for what they do have. It's mostly the smaller things that aren't good buys. It's kind of a small store but it's a good store, for what you can find. People running Bear Paw were also nice enough, that I would come back even if their prices didn't blow away the competition :-).
