you have a pretty good idea that mobile marketing is a business wave that is here and now. It’s come on so fast, that marketers are still standing flatfooted with blinking eyes.Without getting into a long, drawn out explanation,
everyone in business must consider how they will adjust their marketing outreach to leverage and take advantage of the mobile marketing movement. There is a significant set of issues regarding mobile marketing. Do I develop an app? What kind of app should my business have? If I have an app, is that enough? Is my website responsive? Does it have to be? Is “responsive” the same as “mobile friendly?”
* “But I have a separate mobile website. Doesn’t that fix the problem?”*
*No! *Because now Google must devote even more resources
to determine which site to deliver when, and use up search engine resources and results property to possibly show your business twice! So, is that fair? No! So, Google penalizes you for having separate mobile sites.Well, what percentage of websites on the web are indeed responsive?
An utterly absurd report by “MarketingLand.com” in January 2015 says that 82% of webmasters are supposedly using responsive design. But that does not reflect how many sites they developed prior to January 2015 that were NOT responsive, and have NOT been upgraded.Further studies showed that depending on resources and quantities of testing constituents, anywhere from only 18.7% down to 11.8% of website owners confirmed responsive design.
It’s going to be very interesting to see how long it takes for us to actually reach 80+ %.The actual news that makes sense to me is that under 20% of websites are currently responsive.
Let’s not forget the panic that happened only a couple months ago, May was it? …when Google said it may start penalizing websites that are NOT responsive. However, there is some GOOD news
– with the facts conveying that only less than 19% are conforming to the best standards doesn’t it stand to reason that by doing a few things right, you could effectively compete in a world of businesses when 80% are doing it wrong? And WHAT ELSE are they doing wrong?
I will tell you that I believe that a lot of business owners are buying packages for Internet Marketing that are obsolete and detrimental to their business and brand. And, much of it may be utterly worthless as marketing endeavors. This Saturday we take a close look at mobile marketing.
Molly is preparing a presentation to show the lastest methodologies and some best practices. And I, as usual, will assume my cynical self, and give MY impression of what some statistics regarding the mobile world actually mean…… and what you should be doing because of it.
Joining me in the Green room will be as I mentioned…+Molly Youngblood Geiger
