What a beautiful location! A one-thousand year old house, surrounded by verdant but sublime gardens -- a perfect harmony of Japanese architecture, aged materials, and scenery. Also, I really love the choice of music -- the Celtic sound is quite inspiring and not at all what you would think would be matched to a series of Japan-related images. But it really works. Very creative clip and now I so want to go to Fukui..!

Yojiya Cafe has some of the best latte art in Japan. Love this green tea Kimon lady's face. Original and yet distinctly familiar...

Great new feature on www.japantravel.com is its Q&A section. Both the questioners and responders get points and rewards if they want them. My favorite so far is the beaches near Tokyo question, because this isn't a city known for its beaches, but there are some really nice ones just a couple of hours away by public transport.

Wow, this is really in the middle of nowhere in Gunma. But very mouthwatering line up of local cuisine. Are those bottles of apple juice really priced at JPY1200? They must be pretty special!

Ha ha, what a great way to introduce sake, by comparing it to the terrible wine they serve in the same district. Certainly that introduction made me sit up and pay attention! Sake icecream? That's a new one on me. Guess I always thought the alcohol content would prevent it from forming properly. I guess where there is a will there is a way!

Blue ponds, mirror lake surfaces, verdant green, and snow! Only in Hokkaido in the summer. Fantastic photos by Hirose-san. Now we need to figure out if we can cycle there.

Japan is barely touched by tourism drones yet, but it's coming. Nice example of the vivid colors and contrasts of countryside Japan. Impressionism through a gopro camera...!

Tell me that this Jiso statue isn't enjoying the autumn leaf that just fell on his forehead. Awesome colors from an awesome photographer -- Hirose-san...!

Echizen in Fukui (used to be a whole region, now just a town) is where they used to make some of the most famous swords in the feudal era, and today the area is still steeped in history. Making a promise to myself to get over that way -- totally unexplored part of Japan.

Japan needs some high-end air services, and it's good to see JAL giving ANA a run for its money again.
