My life-long interest psychologically, academically and personally in spiritual matters began when I was introduced to the writing of Carlos Castaneda. There is no doubt in my mind that through his writing I also acquired my comfort and spiritual connection to the wilderness. It is therefore not a surprise that I live in beautiful Squamish BC - literally in the shadow of my own Spirit Rock where I once had an epiphanous and transformational near-death experience on a long fall while rock climbing back in the 80's. How cool is that?
This quote is probably the first one I ever had a reason to remember - I was probably 14 or 15 when I first read it and would have been looking for a psychological (and later physical) escape from a painful and abusive home environment.
“Look at every path closely and deliberately, then ask ourselves this crucial question: Does this path have a heart? If it does, then the path is good. If it doesn't then it is of no use to us.” ~ Carlos Castaneda
