----------June 2nd ---- June Gloom!---

Wind light med from the east/southeast this morning, sky overcast/cloud, seas have a slight wind chop and swell to them- but fair traveling- good sight fishing

"60 lb lost it at the boat" got it wrapped it up in the props only 2 miles out of Newport- at least that's what he said, trolling cedar plugs and a green and white feather- hooked it on the feather--- says they saw a whale and big pods of dolphin birds bait-- that's within rowing distance! 9:42 am  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=33_33&lon=117_53

were right on the 267 saw some 60 80ers this morning--- they're here!  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=33_17.5&lon=117_49

They're big ones--- had em' come under the boat 4 or 5 times-- there's plenty of fish here-- maybe later when the tide turns-- OK good luck( offshore fishing grounds 209/ 277)

We got one 6 off Dana on a nat. cedar plug---- saw multiple fish after that and they wouldn't touch it---  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=33_23&lon=117_47

They're pretty quick- tried mac's, sardines- all of it- the only one I got was at 9 am this morning on that cedar plug-- I have not tried a popper yet!

--- not many fish hooked so far today that I've heard of -- 12:45- JD wind switched a little coming from the south now skys stil a bit overcast-

I had those big models up all around us this morning between the two banks the 209 and the 277 had em' all around the boat but they've gone down for now-- 12:59pm

Queit for most of the mid day- low tide turns around at 3 :30pm and the fish started to show again--- that's a big spot of fish--- see that down below you-- 3:59pm off Dana 267 area

others were off the point Dana ) looking for two finners---

Prospector's been pulling on a big fish for the past several hours--- standing by- 4:30pm they must be sporty fishermen- using 30lb tackle!

Lost it --- 2 1/2 hours never saw it one tough bas---- lost it-!! -- must have chewed through the leader---Hey Bob--- I've gait that bird Bird pile up again it you want to try it - 5:30pm----- pulled the hook!

Prospecter---- we got one on ( Dialed in) - go get em-- hope you get em"

big school I'm following around on the sonar--- terns are on them ---I can't get close to em 5:51pm

He's in the cockpit!!! ---- how many inches? --- on the jig--- got tired of soaking baits- there were a lot of fish up schooling--- mini jet head-- Blue and Green ---- Congrats--- what lb tackle 50lb ------- that great-- 45 minutes Ed Rodriguez 6:55pm

AWESOME REPORT!!!! I was just in Newport and we were trolling bait on the bottom hoping for halibut on our kayaks, and just got big bat rays! This has me pumped to just paddle straight out 3-4 miles like we do in La Jolla! And I don't have to drive 1.5 hours to get there! You're the man!!!

35/50 hand off on tuna  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=32_35&lon=117_50

1:50 Hooked up to a swordfish~ El Patron~ Cabo~ fishing the Cabo Hatteras Viking Challenge~ on the right type of tackle too~ stand by~ must have lost him~ came into the harbor without a S/W flag flying

Fishing slower today so far on the 14, 209greened up a bit~

Hey JD~ a call in from the club after weighing in a 40 lb Bull Dorado~ What a battle it must have been~ three guys in a 14 ft skiff, a 25 hp engine, extra Jerry jugs for needed fuel and a bunch of rods, gaffs and the rest of the stuff we all bring along not enough room for the fish!

These kids caught this 40# Dodo on the numbers off your site thanks
Told the wife I'd fill up the boat~ she didn't realize I meant bait not fuel~ had to use it up~ ran out after one pm, had a double on some really nice dorado's just east of the 14 ~cedar plug and a mini jet head~ double on the jigs ~ I looke back and they were fighing on the jigs~ hadn't had jig strike like that in a long time~ regular cabo dorado strikes. http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=33_25&lon=117_58

http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=32_29&lon=117_49 32:29/ 117:49 absolutely crazy fishing~ maybe 25/ 30 lb fish ~bigger as they stayed with the boat longer~ Were they on birds, kelps~ we found em with the sonar mark or hammerheads~sonar mark or the up and down~ do a circle, toss a few baits out ~ other's west of us n/w 33/51 were into these better grade fish and definitely not as much boat pressure~ we've 40 or 50 fish so far~ were done for the day~  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=32_33&lon=117_51

25 30 just outside the 182 loaded with fin~ ~

Marlin reports stretchy~ but the western end of Catalina seemed to have the bites~ either everybody's been too busy to talk on the radios or reception off but not much on the radio today~ little bit more wind up today~ and skies clearer~ if I heard Stan correctly saying heading home the numbers were 33.7 and 23.7 which puts him near the 270 mid channel between the west end and Pt Ferman~

33.20/ 117.54~ Bluefin and Yellowfin~ off Dana Pt~ between the 279/ and 14 outside a bit~ 4:15pm http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=33_20&lon=117_54

Osborn had a pretty good bite going~ windy ~ started there this morning with 3 of us~ all three of us hooked fish~Reel Time had a double going~C~G had a fish and I think another one or two fish more ~ by the time we left there were 8 or 9 boats there~ http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=33_20&lon=119_02

Here's JD's Big Game fish report for Sunday 5/31/2015
http://jdsbiggame.com/report.htm:
****************************************
------------------------------- The Wicked Weekend!!------------------

Lots of show --- not so much go   overcast sky light 2- 4 knts southwest- calm seas- the filling moon was covered up with the overcast-

boats spread out on all the high spots, 267 had lots of bait, up and down fish were seen then disappeared, there were allot boats her earlier ---then they all left and the fish came up-- we're sticking around here-- 36/ 22 numbers came through the squelch ,

I hope the rest of the summer's VHF radio cleans up- by 10 am those who hadn't caught anything except the buzz were disgraceful on the public radio-

we're headed out of here- spent most of the day here for nothing- haven't seen anything at all- this area was full of life, then nothing would bite- we'll get the trollers out and see if anything comes up- OK we'll keep you posted

209 was the parking lot- others below the 181, above the 209 - trolling boats were searchfull for kelps-

57/over 55 cluster of boats working 10:22am  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=32_57&lon=117_55

spent 3 hours on a fish --- just busted it off about 30 minutes ago-- 10:30am

We went two for three yesterday-- had one of those big gorillas on, we chassed it for a couple of miles before the knot failed, it about spooled him four times -- we had to put him on the bow and chase it, the metered was like wicked tunas when he got bit it was well over 100 lbs,--- we saw a spot of breaking fish about 11 am, few boil till then--- slide in on it and he dropped a jig down and got bit--  it was 63 out there on the 181 and 67 on the inside towards the 312 . yesterday when we were on that big fish there were red crabs everywhere--

and more and more reports come in of lost fish or epic battles won- we only got this 80 lber- but there must have been 50 tons around us- right at the bottom of the tide they came up-- while we were fight that fish we cold see em' breaking all around us-- red and black Zuker tuna feather- 30 lb mono on a Penn senator 4/0 old style- good battle-

E-mail as they got the chance to sleep in this morning--- Hey-JD - on the Mai Tai we lost a BFT at the boat last night at 11:35pm. Hooked it in a school with some VW Bug sized fish in it on the 181 at about 11:20 am on 30# Dacron. Fish was in the 200's. 12 hours and about 10 miles; thing was a beast. Fish won. Hugh - http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=32_54.5&lon=117_53.1

Another E- MAIL- Hi JD! We are off to a great start on the Triple T with this 80 pounder on an old 4/0 with 30 pound mono outside the 312 on Saturday! Black and red Zuker from your store and P line mono too! Thanks for all the great tackle and tips!! Eric S.

57 and 11---- blood on the deck-- 12 noon  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=32_57&lon=118_11

39 / 57 a bunch of them just came up--- 1:08pm  http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=32_39&lon=117_57

a lot of fish just popped up here- we're at --- 59-- 1:16pm

it's foaming over here---- we just need to catch em' got some stuff popping up here- we're on the lower edge of that school- 1:44pm

they're still up-- my friend next to us just got one-- a small one- that anothe got just hooked up-- 4:20pm

the afternoon hours - sun came through the overhead gray- slicked off nice- boats entering back into the harbor- a few yellowtail flags and a tuna flag here and there- good weekend for most- a broken rod or two, lost fish and long battles -others , most without but a good time on the water either way.

Mike tells me the Bluefin Tunas like to move/ travel on the full moon Monday and Tuesday  it might be overcast- maybe they wont see as much and will be hungry in the morning- good luck- JD

Here's JD's Big Game fish report for Wednesday 5/27/2015
http://jdsbiggame.com/report.htm:
****************************************
May Gray- more like Zane Grey - Giant Tunas ---Wicked Tunas- Bluefin tearing em' up!- E-Mail this morning -

Hi JD You know me I am Larry Hartmann captain of the ocean explorer out of Daveys. The whale watch guy. And I have the 6 pac Grady white charter boat Discovery. I thought you might enjoy this feel free to post. Yesterday my buddy Tim wanted to do an exploratory goof off trip to look for those bluefin. I had just ran the ocean explorer all holiday 3 day weekend and I was tired. So I gave in and said ok. Well after fishing 3 paddies for 5 yellows up to 25 lbs maybe in 45 minutes. All hell broke loose. Chris one of the captains of the western pride hooked a big bluefin on 40 lb. then Tim on 50lb was slow trolling a sardine as we chased Chris's fish hooks another. Paul who runs the aggressor and patriot and I watched in awe as foamers of huge bluefin came up all around the boat. We knew without bigger equipment it would have been futile to hook more at same time so we watched the show. Bait running under my boat, sauries, mackerel, flying fish. Amazing. At any rate after 2 brutal hours we got Tims fish. 124.5lbs. And then another 2 hours later we lost Chris's fish 15 from boat. Never could there have been a more 4 hour brutal battle. . Between 209 and 181. http://www.tempbreak.com/?lat=33_00&lon=117_52 Fish was caught on my 30 Grady white charter boat Discovery Regards Larry Hartmann Captainlarryadventures.com-- I cannot even begin to describe what I saw yesterday. I swear the first 2 times the bft came up foaming from a half mile away I thought that were common dolphins. Till finally I realized the tails were opposite. Lol. But at the end of the day they were just as big as commons.

Super El Niño?  I'm all for more dorado and some wahoo showing up, but I'm starting to forget what its like to BBQ some freshly caught ALBACORE!
After teasing forecasters throughout 2014, and getting an unusually early start this year, it's looking more and more like El Nino 2015 will persist throughout the year, and possibly even grow stronger.
