Starbucks will be closing some of their US stores during the afternoon of May 29 for anti-discrimination instruction that is “designed to address implicit bias, promote conscious inclusion, prevent discrimination and ensure everyone inside a store feels safe and welcome.” On April 12 2018 at a Philadelphia Starbucks two Black men were unjustly asked to leave the café and when they refused they were arrested. 40% of Black Tellwut respondents feel that they have been discriminated against at a quick service restaurant. The next largest ethnic minority to feel this form of mistreatment are those who identify as Asian, as 21% of Asian Tellwut respondents say they felt discriminated against while at a similar type of establishment. Balancing a career and a family can be difficult especially for women, who are usually the primary caregivers. Often women (and some men) opt to stay home and raise their children, but eventually want to re-enter the workforce. And that can sometimes be difficult, especially if the gap is longer.
Large companies such as IBM, Goldman Sachs and Deloitte all offer such back-to-work programs known as a returnship. These programs are nine-week-to six-month-long "test drives," which provides individuals with programs that help with skill retooling and finding jobs. During that time, a company evaluates a candidate, teaches relevant skills, and eventually decides whether it will offer the candidate a permanent job. Do you like the idea of a returnship? http://bit.ly/2L2fDDU #Returnship #MomLife #WorkingParents #MRX #MarketResearch #Insights

International Women's Day (IWD) is March 8, it is meant to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. In honour of this occasion we have featured, #IWD as Tellwut's 'Survey of the Day' with a focus on #PressForProgress. Tellwut panel member, Northernlamplighter shares their experience: In my old community, I did volunteer work and was a paid casual laborer at the women's resource center. We had a big celebration with drawings, speakers and food on International Women's Day. I was the one who gathered the items for the drawings. It was a fun and special day. I wish our present community did something special for it. http://bit.ly/2I4Fv0e
