What goes into building a vision system? Here's a blueprint for the uninitiated.
http://possibility.teledynedalsa.com/first-blueprint-machine-vision-look- record-perfect/
While historically the tools of machine vision were focused on manufacturing, that’s quickly changing, spreading into medical applications, research, and even movie making.

Show me the money: the U.S. secret service was created in 1865 primarily to combat counterfeiting...and it's still trying. So how do you tell real banknotes from fake? These days currency has dozens of security features, including some that require multispectral non-visible imaging. Read more in our Possibility Hub
Currency uses security features that are verified by near infrared and ultraviolet imaging

Five CMOS Camera Developments to Watch in 2014
This year has already begun with the promise of bigger, better, faster and more precise imaging in the world of CMOS, further expanding the technology’s market share into fields previously held by CCD. Or film. Or by nothing at all. Here are five trends you’ll be hearing a lot about this year…

Rodrigo Cerqueira isn't actually all-seeing, but his interactive 360-degree photography sometimes makes it seem that way. Check out a profile of this panoramic imaging innovator on our Possibility Hub.

Panoramic imaging is being used to highlight the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil. While the experience is great, the technical hurdles behind it remain.

Creative Vision Engineers
A “combination of creative guys and very hard-core scientists and engineers” builds exciting new possibilities in sports entertainment with the help of machine vision technology. “That’s what it takes to build something new like this, and to make it useful and applicable. Many of my partners came from the cinema industry. Some of them are computer graphics geniuses.”

Like many groundbreaking ideas, freeD was born in a pub. Oren H. Yogev and his friend Aviv Shapira were watching a Manchester United match on their lunch break and wondered aloud what it might be like to watch the game from the perspective of the football itself. The two began bouncing ideas off each other and developed the concept with Matteo, Aviv’s brother.

Watching what you eat: Bizerba brings digital imaging to the massive food production industry, with a view toward more perfect products. “Our customers didn’t ask for vision systems,” says Martin Taube, Global Product Manager of Inspection Systems at Bizerba, “but they are under more pressure than ever to produce perfect products as a result of tighter regulations and higher standards. Adding vision was the way to give them what they needed…”

Humans are very visual creatures...but we only see a tiny fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum. In this article (with video), watch Cees Draijer, Senior Program Manager at Teledyne DALSA, talk about expanding our perception into the IR, UV, and beyond, with image sensor technology. http://possibility.teledynedalsa.com/invisible-becomes-visible/
Non-visible imaging is already spreading from pure scientific and military applications into many different industries and changing the landscape of imaging.
