Bank of Canada announced this morning that they are lowering their rate from 0.75% to 0.5%. What does this mean for you? Well Canadian banks will likely begin lowering their prime rates over the next couple of weeks. This means the cost of borrowing money - including mortgages - will likely become cheaper. However, banks are unlikely to lower their prime rates by the same 0.25% but instead by a slightly smaller change.

Improving your credit score isn't difficult, here are some simple steps to do it.

1. Pay all bills on time – late payments hurt ratings
2. Keep credit balances below 75% of the maximum
3. Avoid applying for additional credit; too many applications in a short period signals financial difficulties
