Homeschooling is a daunting task. Homeschool parents are solely responsible for their children's education. That's a heavy burden to carry. Should homeschool parents be concerned about filling in the gaps in their kids' education?

All the beautiful birds in my backyard inspired me to make a Backyard Birds unit study perfect for your preschoolers! Don't miss these hands-on activities, books, and free printables!

My daughter and I are having such a good time watching the birds that are visiting our backyard this summer. We have fat robins that love to hop along the rail of our back porch. Brilliant blue jays stop and rest on our fence. Hummingbirds visit my next…

Preschoolers will have a blast learning their shapes, colors, numbers, and letters as they feed the monster!

We did this activity at our library story time a while back. So I can’t take complete credit for the clever idea. But, I’m so glad it was something we could recreate at home! This shape monster preschool game was super easy to make. One of the best things…

I highly recommend How Do We Know God Created Life? to anyone who would like to start their children out with a biblical worldview. Learning about science topics through the eyes of God will help you and your children to marvel together at the wonder of His creation, and draw you both closer to Him through your learning times.

As moms, we read to our children a lot! We all have our favorites! My list includes many story books, but also lists a couple of our favorite children’s bibles. My 4-year-old in particular loves to just sit and look at our bible story books. She will…

One of the unexpected benefits of homeschooling is the gift of time. Time to invest in your children. Time for your children to invest in themselves. Time for families to invest in each other.

I am always amazed at how quickly time flies. It seems I am sitting down to start planning the start of a new school year, and then I blink and the year is over.  I am about to start planning my sixteenth year of homeschooling! But, it really doesn’t seem…

Homeschool moms, new and experienced, worry about teaching the 'hard stuff.' Are they really capable of teaching chemistry, foreign languages, and upper level maths? Here are three resources I rely upon to help me tackle those tough subjects in my homeschool.

Homeschool moms, new and experienced, have many questions and concerns throughout their homeschool journey. One I hear over and over again (and one I had myself when I started out) is whether or not we’re capable of teaching our kids everything they need…

Homeschooling does not have to cost a lot. So, don't let finances stand in the way of your desire to educate your kids. Use any or all of these five tips for frugal homeschooling to make it affordable for your family.

I’ve heard many prospective homeschool parents discuss the cost of homeschooling. The reality is that homeschooling can be quite costly when you think about purchasing all of the books, supplies, and manipulatives needed for an entire year. That doesn’t…

Before I start actually planning our new school year, I find it helpful to reflect on the previous school year. Here are four things I consider before I start planning.

Wow! It’s the middle of July already! Have you started thinking about the new homeschool year? Or, are you still trying to wrap up last year?  I enjoyed taking the month of June off from homeschooling. I did order a few books for the upcoming year,…

Don't be fooled into thinking you have to mimic a public school classroom in your homeschool. Discover the freedom that homeschooling gives you to uniquely design an academic journey best suited for your family and your kids.

When we started homeschooling 15 years ago, my goal was to offer my son an education at his level. He was far ahead of his peers in school, but our district didn’t test for the gifted program until third grade. In second grade, he had the privilege of…
