In today's digital age it's easy to forget about paper, but as one paper pusher says, "a paperless society is about as plausible as a paperless bathroom."

Me as Sister Agnes in rehearsal for "First Fridays" by Norman Allen. This was one of eight one-act plays (I was in three of them) for the Theatre Lab DC's Dramathon fundraiser, which sends disadvantaged kids to drama camp. We raised nearly $12,000 for the kids! And here's one of the reasons why I do it: One of the Theatre Lab DC's longtime scholarship students -- who had her first exposure to theatre when she came to their camp at age 8 -- was just accepted at Juilliard!! So you never know where it might lead.

One of the things I asked people to do at my mom's memorial was not just mourn, as we all miss her, but to find a cause they loved and give their money/time/expertise to it -- like she did. This is how we honor and remember her. -- tbb

I'm a Southern girl, an editor for NPR.org and a wild dreamer who laughs loudly and often. When I grow up I'll be a bass player. Or Sarah Vaughan. Whichever comes first.
