New on the blog!

If you’re just starting out in your heart-based biz, it can be tempting to send out your newsletters (and other email marketing messages) manually.

Here are 4 solid reasons that doing so is a very, very, VERY bad idea – and a recommendation for what to do instead

Check out the post at: http:/crystalclaritycopywriting.com/manual-newsletters/

One of the corollaries of holding “No One Right Way” as a sacred principle is that I don’t often get to tell people “thou shalt” do anything.

Here’s why I make an exception for the Prime Directive that “Thou shalt be clear”. Plus, I’ve included three tips to help you avoid the fuzzy copy that leaves your readers confused, frustrated, and generally unlikely to take action after they read.

Check out the post at: http:/crystalclaritycopywriting.com/prime-directive/

It definitely hasn’t all been retrospective lately here at Crystal Clarity. I know I said I’d intended to plan no more than the next quarter loosely, and the next month in detail.

What’s actually happened though is a detailed plan for the next two months; and a whole load of ideas for potential webinars, challenges and services for the months that follow.

Here’s an up-close-and-personal intro to what to (possibly) expect from Crystal Clarity in 2016.

New on the blog: if you've been in the heart-based business space for a while, you've probably come across someone (possibly a LOT of someones) who's insisted that marketing funnels are the be-all-and-end-all of marketing strategy.

My personal view: they have their place, and I use them myself - but I also acknowledge that there are other options.

Here's a bit more about why I use them - but why I don't insist that you do too:

I tripped, fell and committed poetry...
I want to turn away From the dispossessed, the starving The footsore and weary and displaced The traumatised children, terrified of their pillows The babies who've never known a home The parents whose only reality is anguish My throat chokes, my heart bleeds Every time I see their images ...

Are you going crazy figuring out why your latest web page isn't working? Maybe the copy isn't reading right, or people aren't signing up, or it just doesn't feel authentic and in alignment with YOU, damnit?

I've JUST finished this page for a (another!) service I've offered to a few heart-based businessfolk now, but hadn't written up on my website anywhere.

Basically, it's an in-depth, hour-long, one-to-one consult where we work together to identify what needs fixing and how to best make it happen. You'll walk away from the consult with complete clarity about what's not working, plus a personalised list of easy-to-implement recommendations to get your web page the way you want it.

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard the claim that “email is dead” – and recent research suggests that reports of its death are highly overstated.

Here are 4 ways that a well-written newsletter can help you to build your business – and what you can do if you’d like to write one, but aren’t sure how.

One way to get clear in your own mind (not to mention help your perfect peeps get clear) on what you want – and what you stand for is to write out a personal manifesto for your business.

After reading a great little how-to post from the wonderful Alexandra Franzen this weekend, I wanted to give this a go myself.  (And, unlike when I tried it for my introvert mentoring biz, it didn’t take me 2,000 words this time around!)

Check out the post - and the 2016 manifesto - at: http:/crystalclaritycopywriting.com/2016-manifesto/

PS: why yes, that IS the Magna Carta in the graphic... why do you ask?

New on the blog!

I’ve been doing a lot of planning and reviewing over the past couple of weeks; and in the interests of transparency, I wanted to share some of it with y’all.

Especially, I wanted to let you know that if where you are now looks NOTHING like where you imagined you’d be at this point back in January of this year, you’re not alone.

Here’s a month by month recap of the highlights of 2015 from a Crystal Clarity perspective – and the five biggest lessons I learned from it all.

New on the blog: Last month, I wrote about the three pillars of an effective sales page, and why I now refer two of them on. In this post, I want to introduce you to +Lorraine Hamilton  one of my new collaboration partners, whom I’ll be referring some folks on to.

Lorraine loves helping people get clear on what, exactly, their core message is – something you absolutely need to know before you can write effective copy. I asked Lorraine to introduce herself in an interview so you can get to know her; and here are her answers to my interview questions...

There are a lot of bold claims about the power of great copywriting out there; and I’m not denying it’s an essential part of a successful sales page.

But the truth is that it’s only ONE part of effective marketing – one of the three pillars that support sales pages that work.

Find out what the other two pillars are – and why I now refer both of them on to experts who are better at them than I am – in this week’s post.
