There was a 50 percent decline in global deaths caused by #malaria between 2000 and 2015, due to increased treatment rates. A great example of this is provided by +The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, whose supported programmes treated 15% more people in 2016 alone, to hit a cumulative total of 668 million. #WorldMosquitoDay was established on 20 August to mark the day when Sir Ronald Ross discovered the link between the female Anopheles mosquito and the transmission of #malaria. It has now been 120 years since his discovery and then the battle against malaria-carrying mosquitoes has continued to intensify.
