Let's talk about Restaurants and good food along the major East Coast RV Routes. Niki and I find that the best way to feel - and yes, taste - the local flavor of an area is to seek out the locals' favorite places to dine. You meet people and you get a better feeling for what it might be like living in an area. [ 328 more words ]

CICI's - "BEYOND PIZZA"

Niki and I visited CiCi's in Clearwater this evening and had a most enjoyable dinner. CiCi's is an all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta buffet. CiCi's is a chain with several outlets in the Tampa Bay Area and this is the newest, having opened while we were up North this past Summer.

We are both limited on our pizza forays as neither Niki nor myself is supposed to eat tomatoes in any size, shape or sauce due to health reasons. Unfortunately our pizzas and pastas now have to be from the Alfredo persuasion. That being the case we have to choose an Italian eatery very carefully. We phoned CiCi's first to be sure they offered Alfredo selections and were assured they did.

First off the restaurant is huge with a regular section and many tables, a separate party room for special get-togethers and the other half of the facility is filled with all manner of arcade games. We were surprised that it was fairly quiet but that is due to the fact the game room is separate.

Our greeting at check-in was very cordial and the young lady cheerfully explained the whole buffet setup to us. The next surprise was the price - normally $6.95 for adults plus drinks - our query about a senior discount was met with a smiling "of course" - so dinner for two seasoned citizens with drinks came to $12.80.

The buffet tables were lined with salad fixin's, pasta, choice of sauces, soup, several pizza selections including flatbreads, dessert pizzas, brownies and cinnamon rolls. If you don't particularly like what you see they will make the pizza with the toppings you want while you have your salad course. All with a warm smile and an honest "how can we make it better for you?" attitude. The Alfredo sauce was very good and they built us a couple of flatbread pizzas that were delicious. The dessert pizzas and especially the warm cinnamon rolls capped off the meal perfectly.

Believe it or not we have now found our new pizza place for when we get a craving for pizza (and warm cinnamon rolls).
