+Kayleigh A Well put! Yes, even we still usually place Facebook near the top for many clients, simply due to the volume of users, the target audience is pretty widespread across demographics (with the youth engaging far less, however), and the ability for API (installing/configuring apps). The ads are very successful for the majority of clients as well. 
However, exactly to your point, and as well +Yasmin Bendror said so well...Being on multiple platforms is imperative for long term success. I would suggest picking one that is as directly in line with targeted audiences as possible of course.
