MY DEFINITIVE USEFUL #WatchMaker #TOOLS & #TIPS POST
From time to time I am asked what programs I use, or how I do things. This post will be a master guide/list of every tool that I have in my arsenal while creating a #WatchFace with the WatchMaker app. I will keep this post updated to the best of my abilities. There may be things here that you do not use, or are not interested in. This is just an outline of the most efficient tools that I find best suit my particular needs while creating watch faces. I will also do my best to explain why I use each program/app vs other similar apps.

======
GRAPHICS WORK
======
Photoshop CC (PC)
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop
There are so many reasons that I choose Photoshop as a design tool that explaining would be far too difficult in a single post. There are other programs that achieve the same thing, some of which are free. It's all a matter of what you feel comfortable with using.

Photoshop Touch
http://bfy.tw/4PQ8
This is an Android app that is just a watered down version of Photoshop. Adobe has discontinued this app, but there are ways to grab a copy if you dare. Follow the above link at you own risk.

Pixlr Photo Editor
https://goo.gl/L1tYoT
Another instance where there are many options available. I use Pixlr because it suits so many needs. I don't like needing multiple editors, and this one does everything I need. For WatchMaker in particular I use this to make quick mockups and collages of screenshots.

Mock Up Images
http://bfy.tw/4PT1
Mock ups are when you display a face already inside a watch. A fancy preview if you will. There is not one, but many available out in the wild...Google is your friend here.

======
FILE MANAGEMENT
======
Solid Explorer
https://goo.gl/JczpEC
Solid is IMO hands down the best android file explorer. You can log into dropbox, drive, and many other cloud storage file managers as well as view all your local files with a very clean layout. One file manager for all your various locations. Perfect for avoiding having all the different apps separated.

QuickPic Gallery
https://goo.gl/6Pvlgj
QuickPic allows you to include/exclude certain folders, has transparent file viewing, and many other options that I have not found in most Android gallery apps. There are a few annoying adds that can, and should, be switched off.

Dropbox
https://goo.gl/3aX4BL
http://www.dropbox.com (PC)
I know I mentioned you could use Solid Explore for all of them, and Dropbox is included in that, but I use Dropbox for all my uploads. You can keep separate folders for shared/private, and best of all; when you share a link from Dropbox for WatchMaker faces they automatically import into the app. This is not the case with Google Drive; GDrive links are a real pain for the end user to download, and also expire over time making old links obsolete.

======
COLORS
======
Googles Official Color Palette
https://goo.gl/j8M4X2
Google has very conveniently made all their color codes and schemes available to the public in a very well designed webpage. They even include a downloadable color palette that can be imported directly into graphics programs.

Pipette Color Picker
https://goo.gl/cytnuj
Free Android app that allows you to zoom in on any picture and copy the desired color in both HEX & RGB values.

Instant Eyedropper (PC)
http://instant-eyedropper.com/
Program sits in your task-bar to allow quickly grabbing any color code that is on you screen.

Color Hexa (Website)
http://www.colorhexa.com/
Very useful website for color geeks. Has numerous tools to help get the perfect palette or blend desired colors.

======
USING WatchMaker ON PC
======
Bluestacks
http://www.bluestacks.com
Bluestacks is an Android emulator for your desktop. There are other ways to use android on the PC, but I have found the most luck with this program. I like to avoid the various Android OS's, as then you need to reboot the PC; with Bluestacks that is not an issue. If you can grab a pre rooted download to help with performance issues on older hardware...again Google is your friend here.

AirDroid
http://www.airdroid.com
AirDroid is a web service that allows a connection between you phone and PC. There is also a downloadable desktop client available. If you have a rooted device and the desktop client of AirDroid you can even use AirMirror which allows a remote connection to the device. Once you use AirDroid I assure you you'll love it, for much more than WatchMaker too!

======
VARIOUS TOOLS
======
Clip Stack
https://goo.gl/4FpRuu
Clipstack is a clipboard manager that has the option of a persistent button that appears whenever you open a text input area. You an edit any copied information, blacklist certain information, and star all your favorite bits of code and information. You will find this very helpful for much more than WatchMaker.

Wear Battery Stats
https://goo.gl/zsdy7N
It's not the most scientific battery graphing program, but it will certainly help get a feel for when your watch face contains excess battery drain.

Keep
https://goo.gl/scXPvu
Google Keep is a simple, and clean note taking app. What is handy about this is you can write code on the PC then paste it into Keep for safe keeping, then pull it up from the Android app...put the cloud work for you.

Notepad++ (PC)
https://notepad-plus-plus.org/
Notepad++ is a great tool for writing LUA, and many other, scripts/codes. It can keep everything much cleaner than WatchMaker can.

Quick Edit
https://goo.gl/CRD5YW
Handy script editor for Android. More helpful for the advanced user, but when needing to make multiple changes to preset values the find & replace tool is pure gold!

======
WEBSITES & UPLOADS
======
FaceRepo
http://www.facerepo.com
The first and largest digital watch face upload site. It's simple clean layout makes browsing and uploading both very easy. It should be noted however that your faces will also be uploaded to other 3rd party sites...I have spoken with the FaceRepo creator and this fact is unavoidable an a non registration type of site. Ultimately it is all about how you want you uploads to be controlled

WatchAwear
http://www.watchawear.com
Includes tutorials, watch hand packs, parts, and more. Site developer is also a Moderator of the WatchMaker community.

Weebly
http://www.weebly.com
This website building service is what I use to host my own personal website. They take a simple drag & drop approach to website design, and have free sites as well.

======
And that's it. These are all the tools that I use for a WatchMaker build. If I find more useful tools I will update this post on my G+ Profile, so be sure to leave a comment to ensure you are informed about future updates to this post. Hope you find these as useful as I do.

++
And as always you can find all my completed designs in the Google Play Store (http://goo.gl/I05V4D) or at www.seangrondin.com

Donations (paypal.me/seangrondin) are also always welcome, and help more than you know. Donations will go toward continued development.
