Damian Normile’s passion for being a Carpentry teacher started in high school while learning manual arts and technical drawing. He immediately realised he wanted to share these practical skills with others. Damian loves working with people, getting to know them and finding out what motivates them to learn, which is part of what makes him a great teacher. His lifelong desire to learn motivates him to keep up to date with the latest skills and he believes passing on his abilities to students is his way of giving back to the industry. #MakeGreatHappen

IT'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
Mental Health Week aims to raise awareness and the importance of mental health and well-being. So this week, take a moment to think about the different ways you can take care of yourself and what you can do to stay mentally healthy.

We have some fun suggestions to help nurture your well-being such as taking a walk at lunch, catching up with friends for coffee, or asking for help when you need it. Why not plan sometime to switch off all your devices and enjoy quiet time alone or with family and friends. www.qldmentalhealthweek.org.au

A passion for cooking has taken our cookery teacher Brad Clark all over the world. After completing his apprenticeship Brad worked as a chef at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Melbourne, on Hayman Island, Europe and the UK before returning to Australia and opening his first restaurant. After years of diverse experience, Brad began teaching other promising young chefs at the Whitsunday Campus of TAFE Queensland before moving to the Gold Coast. Students at TAFE Queensland Gold Coast are lucky to have Brad teaching and creating amazing dishes at our new Southport Hospitality Hub. #MakeGreatHappen
