We are only a few days away from the start our new mission in Ghana where we will build a small educational Aquaponic system at GMI's new location in Dodowa and will be holding several training sessions/workshops in Accra, Kumasi and possibly Hohoe.

One of the main objectives of this trip is to provide information about alternative farming methods for individuals, schools, orphanages and small communities such as sack gardens and growing vegetables in buckets.

During the planned full day sessions in Kumasi we will explain the basics of aquaponics and hydroponics, their benefits and how to maintain such systems to produce the maximum amount of vegetables.

Our friend in Kumasi, Ghana:

Join us on May 15 at a day-long training session on aquaponics and hydroponics at the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture (KITA).

The training class costs 100 GH₵ for professionals and 20 GH₵ for students and includes lunch .
During the the class you'l learn about growing plants and fish in an aquaponics system, how to organically grow vegetables using hydroponics.

During the last 1,5 hour of the class we go over the slides of the organic farming and how to grow your own vegetables in sacks and buckets.

Please contact us (info@taluma.net) if for more information.

- Setup and provide workshop/training session in Accra, Kumasi and Hohoe about organic farming, composting, sack gardens and growing vegetables in bucket.
- Provide "Introduction to Aquaponics" class in Accra and Kumasi

The current plan for the trip is:

* Dodowa April 30-May 9 (holding internal classes, building an aquaponics training facility at GMI orphanage)
* Accra May 10 -12
* Kumasi May 14-16 (workshop planned for the 15th)
* Hohoe May 18-19

(dates may change due to work at GMI installation in Dodowa)

We will send an update with the exact time and location of the workshops and training sessions later this month.

Please contact us by e-mail to training@taaluma.net if you are interested in participating in one of our workshops or you would like to hold an even at your location.

We are planning to visit several places during our October/November trip to Ghana.

One of our main stop will be the school of Marie Afari that we worked with last year, to build a functioning kitchen and several sack gardens for planting tomatoes, pepper and potatoes.

You can help our mission by donating anything from $5.

100% of donation to Taaluma will be used on our projects in Ghana and other west African countries.

Taaluma is set for another trip to Ghana this fall.
We will make some additions to the aquaponics system at CORM; build an efficient stove and sack gardens for Mary Afari in Hohoe and visit Kumasi for the first time. Donate by clicking the link bellow.

Every little bit helps, $5 is enough for a sack garden.

Thanks in advance.

Harvest time at our #Aquaponics unit in #Ghana

A lot of large fish were harvested this weekend at our Aquaponics & Training location in Ghana.

This is an amazing image that would not have been possible without the help of our generous sponsors.

You can help us with our future projects by donating for a cause: http://www.taaluma.net/index.php/work-with-us/donate-2

As always, 100% of the donations will go toward the work and material used on those projects.

After some major rodent problems, the Aquaponic system north west of Accra that was built by the donation of generous people in France and US and with volunteer work of people from Switzerland, US and France is now back in production.

Taaluma is planning to build more of such farms in Ghana and Togo in coming years, we are looking for volunteers and donors who are interested in supporting our cause to help schools, orphanages and activity centers who are taking care of women and children in west Africa to learn about alternative food production as well as lowering their dependency on foreign charities by producing their own food.
These centers are also being used as educational hubs for local villagers and visiting groups to spread the knowledge of
- Aquaponics
- Composting
- Sack gardens
- Raise beds in order to farm on hard land
- more

You can visit our web site at http://www.taaluna.net or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Taalumawomen
The aquaponics system in Ghana is still producing a good harvest with continuous plantings. There was a rodent problem, but we think they're all gone and won't get to these veggies.

You can help us build our next system by making a donation via our page at: http://www.taaluma.net/index.php/work-with-us/donate-2
