Rawls’ flagship STEM MBA program is now accepting applications for June and August start dates.

The Rawls STEM MBA is designed to complement STEM students’ technical background, with the necessary business analytical skills they will need to be successful in management and leadership roles. The focus on general business in the classroom remains the same; the difference lies in the emphasis on STEM applications, along with elective classes geared specifically toward STEM disciplines. Take 1 year to set yourself apart.

SCHOLARSHIPS available.

MEN OF THE HONORS COLLEGE, BAYLESS NEEDS YOU!
The Honors College currently has 41 mentors active in the Bayless school, 33 of which are female. We are grateful for these mentors, but due to strict LISD policy, female mentors can only be matched with female Bayless students. Meanwhile, Bayless has an increasing population of struggling male students who need positive role models. If you have half an hour to spend each week with a student, please email Megan Conley at megan.conley@ttu.edu. Females are still welcome to apply!

Study Abroad Scholarships

Planning the finances for a study-abroad experience can seem quite overwhelming, but it really isn’t all that difficult or scary. The Honors College has put together this basic outline of financing possibilities for those Honors students who are wondering how to go about planning for their travels.

Honors College Study Abroad Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the Honors College for summer, semester and full year study abroad sessions and is awarded each year. Honors College students that have already received this scholarship are eligible to apply again, although selection preference will go to first time applicants.

The application can be downloaded from the Honors website.

Award amounts vary depending on the type and length of the program.  Students must complete an application and attach an estimated program expense document.  The application and required attachments must be submitted to the Honors College by the following deadlines:
For Summer Study - March 1st
For Fall Study -          June 1st
For Spring Study -      October 1st

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant

Texas Tech applicants do not have to be members of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society in order to receive a $1000 study abroad grant!

Applications for the Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant can be made online.

Friday Lunch Discussion

Dr. David Perlmutter
Dean, College of Media and Communications

Understanding the Appeals of the
ISIS Propaganda Campaign

Tens of thousands of young men are flocking from all around the world to fight and potentially kill and die for the “Islamic State” in Syria and Iraq.
Their actions seem, to most people, appalling beyond belief, yet they continue to swarm to the cause.

What draws them? It is just religious fanaticism, poverty or teen disaffection? What is ISIS itself doing to win converts to their cause? I have been looking at the ISIS propaganda, especially the visuals and videos. In particular, I’m interested in how ISIS is making some symbolic, emotional, cultural and psycho-social appeals that are not new at all, but in line with previous mass persuasion efforts to get young men to sacrifice themselves for an “Evil” cause.
