It's 50 years since the March On Washington. What do you think Martin Luther King, Jr. would have to say about the inequalities in the US today? http://youtu.be/6niWzomA_So #marchonwashington   #WhyPoverty   #MLK50

MLK would say that inequality is alive and well and there has been no real change, none at all that is worthwhile, but the inequality is now shown secretively and well hidden using only political correctness when it is public and using innocent people as a means only is okay and proper. There is only corruption and it is everywhere and permeates our entire USA society, some states, such as Pennsylvania, are far worse than others. (They shoot pigeons, don't they?) Otherwise things such as excessively long prison sentences for nonviolent crimes, such as having one mj joint on a person even if the drug is planted upon a person so an arrest is possible, and only to fulfill a prison population quota to provide free prison labor for corrupt corporations profits would never exist. Each state that has a corporate owned prison is bound by contracts between the state and the privatized corporate owned prison owners, and the state is to provide minimum 80% full prison population otherwise the state must recompensate the prison from the state's money coffers to provide the money that the corporation lost profits from having a less full prison. The state does NOT want to pay that money. SO, the Police go out and arrest innocent people to maintain the arrest quota, and they do so even if they have to plant an illegal substance on a person to do so. Even the Police know what their job is, to arrest these people, no matter how they do it, they must arrest to keep the prisons full.
THAT is the truth.

It's great to know that Dokufest in Kosovo are showing some of our films as part of this year's festival. We also love this #WhyPoverty wall of notes that has been created to encourage people to share their thoughts on extreme poverty. What would your note say? http://instagram.com/p/dR4W1zKg8l/. #dokufest13

São Paulo, Brazil, has more empty buildings than people living on the streets. A new movement is reclaiming them for homeless, low income families but these actions puts them at odds with the home owners, the police and the law. Please take a few minutes to watch our thought-provoking short film Mauá Surroundings - Why Poverty? (English version) #whypoverty

Great news! Today, Guy Scott, Zambia's Vice President, is hosting a screening of our film Stealing Africa followed by a panel discussion on poverty and Zambia's copper mining industry at the country's Government House. The documentary is also part of this month's Lusaka Film Festival. Let's hope all this signals an end to multinational tax dodging in Zambia and that Zambians will finally start to benefit from their country's natural wealth and resources. Please watch like and share our film, especially ahead of tomorrow's G20 meeting with its focus on preventing global tax avoidance: Stealing Africa - Why Poverty? #G20

Many students will receive their exam results today. Results that will decide which university, if any, they can get into. But is further education still a route out of poverty or has it become a cause of it? Watch our documentary 'Education, Education' and decide. http://bit.ly/11xGttQ #whypoverty   #alevels   #university
