First, glad to find time to post here again, its been a while although I do try and keep up on reading the posts.

Anyone have any good tips on getting small plants rooted?  I'm trying some micro swords and some sort of grass again in my freshwater 29 gallon.  Big plants I have no problem with, but anything with such fine roots gets uprooted by the fish.  I have gravel and flouromax as substrate.

While at the LFS, they had baby snails, a "few" for $1 for puffer fish food.  My few consisted of I think 5 snails, about 1/4" or less each.  My whisker shrimp jumped on them right away although I don't think were able to actually get to the snail itself.

No idea if the puffer ever found his treats or not.

Here's a cool action shot of the attempted snail snacking:

My whisker shrimp had babies in a small 1.5 gallon tank. There were a ton at first and then within a week, they dwindled. I was going to clean the tank a couple weeks later but saw a bunch of very small white dots swimming.

Is it possible they are the babies? They seem the same size as when born. They are probably 6 or 7 weeks old now.

What else could they be, though? I don't have them in my other tanks.

Unless I hear they are likely baby shrimp, I'm going to clean and put away that tank soon.

Here's another shot of my puffer and a shrimp in action doing what they do best.  The puffer is leaving everyone alone pretty well.  No new nipped fins since the day I added him to the tank.  He does hang around the snails but I'm not too worried yet since they are so much bigger than him.

The shrimp has a dwarf gourami that died.  The gourami was losing his color and acting listless for the past week or so.  I left the dead fish in for about a day, the shrimps managed to eat almost all of it.

I'm looking at adding a CO2 system to my 29 gallon planted freshwater tank.  So far, the tank is doing fine, I'm just looking at enhancing my plant growth a bit.  I'm specifically looking for CO2 solutions that use bottled CO2, not anything I have to mix yeast or anything like that.

Can anyone recommend a specific product and perhaps where to buy it?  Money is definitely a factor here.

Thanks!

My tank from today.  Not many changes lately but I did add 3 cherry shrimp today.  Also found 1 feeder snail that is still around from a week or two ago.

Urgent help needed!!!  -

How do I raise my pH level? My goldfish and got tank has been needing issues. Lost at least one snail and 5 or 6 guppies. The lfs tested my water and the pH came in at 7.4 whereas their tanks were 8.8. She recommended more water changes to bring it back up.

Any other suggestions? Just looking for other ideas and input. Thanks!

Putting coral In the tank will naturally stabilize the PH also.

For those with planted tanks - don't forget to change your light bulbs once in a while.  My bulbs were only about 15 months old but my plant growth had stagnated.  They were still green and OK but just not thriving any more.  I picked up a new bulb from the LFS last week and my plants are much greener and growing like crazy again.

Added a dwarf or pea puffer fish the other day.  Very fun to watch it swim but it is nipping at the fins of it's tankmates already even though they are twice as big as him.

Cute little guy:
