As the Haiti Fund at the Boston Foundation moves toward the end of its initial five-year commitment to support Haitian-led reconstruction efforts and community building in Boston and Haiti after the devastating January 2010 earthquake, fund founder Karen Ansara shares some lessons and reflections from her journey, providing valuable insight into the challenges and opportunity for international disaster relief and anti-poverty philanthropy.

The Boston Foundation is pleased to see that Massachusetts has been ranked number 1 in the nation for children's wellbeing in the 2014 Kids Count report. In fact, 3 New England states were in the Top 4 and 4 were in the Top 7.

That said, there is plenty we can and should learn by looking more deeply into the numbers, examining the data for our cities and counties and more.
