TAMA Martial Arts was founded by Master Taningco in 1976.  TAMA Martial Arts offers a safe and challenging learning environment for you and your children.

The TAMA Martial Arts curriculum focuses on developing an individual, giving each student the attention they need to progress at their own level of understanding.  It’s a great outlet for energetic kids and a great program for children who are inactive and wish to become active while at the same time improving their life skills. Our program instills self-respect and discipline while enhancing concentration, dexterity, and coordination.

We have 8 different discipline of Martial Arts curriculum to choose from. Kempo Karate Jujitsu, Tien Shan Pai Kung-Fu, Muay Thai Kickboxing/Boxing, BJJ/Brazilian Jiujitsu, MMA-Mixed Martial Arts, Tai Chi, Aikido/Aikijutsu, and Filipino Kali/JKD. Self Defense program is put into place in most of these classes. Both martial arts adult and kids classes are available. Family martial arts classes are also available. Our mission is to empower each student with confidence and greater life skills to survive in this challenging world we live in. Visit our site.......;  www.tamamartialarts.com

We provide the stage of inner champion. We challenge the students in their mental, physical, spiritual and emotional growth in the martial arts training. We have created world martial arts champions but most importantly, we created highly successful martial arts students that understand the value of responsibilities in the community and family.

Are you ready to take the step and be part of our success blueprint in martial arts training and beyond? Grandmaster Taningco has been mentoring adults and children for the last 38 years in Dayton area that includes: Kettering, Beavercreek, Xenia, Fairborn, Yellow Springs, Vandalia, Oakwood, Centerville, Miamisburg, Springboro, Springfield, Englewood, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Moraine, Bellbrook and both Greene County and Montgomery County.

When my daughter was bullied in kindergarten it was suggested to us to have her try Martial Arts to build her confidence. The day we found TAMA and Master T was a blessing! Our daughter practiced there in the Kids Karate class and became so much more confident and self-assured. We loved TAMA so much that my husband enrolled and takes classes there now. I have nothing but amazing things to say about TAMA Family Martial Arts!

We enrolled our son a few months back and plan to grow with this journey, The master is second to none and pays great attention to progress, (good or bad) honest and sincere is pretty apparent in all that goes on here. If you take your child or yourself anywhere else, you are missing the very best that there is in the Miami Valley Period!!

You will not find a better place to train in all of Dayton and Southwest Ohio. The quality of the head instructor, the senior students, and the passion for martial arts are second to none. I trained all the way to my black sash and became a disciple of Tien Shan Pai Kung Fu!

I started at TAMA a year ago, and I absolutely love it. It is my home away from home. There were two things that impressed me most within my first week: 1. Everything was relaxed, yet professional. I was very intimidated when I first thought about learning karate; I had visions of the large schools seen in movies like the Karate Kid. When I entered Tama I was immediately put at ease by the friendly personality of Sue, the front desk attendant. 2. By the second class, everyone knew my name. The first week, all the instructors and many of my fellow students knew my name. I would walk in and people would say “Hi, Rachael!” And I would say “hi” and think to myself “whoever you are” because I had not learned all their names yet. ;) Classes: When it comes to the classes, we work hard and have fun. In the group class for ages 13+, there is plenty of variety. Boredom is never an issue, because we are always doing something different or doing a variation of a previous drill. Mighty Mites: I do not have any children in this class (I don’t have any children at all.), but I do volunteer as an aide to Master Taningco during this class. What impressed me most about the Mighty Mites class was how much fun Master Taningco has with his students. It is great to hear the student’s laughing at a joke Master Taningco makes and to see there enthusiasm as they enter the building. “Where is Master Taningco?” they often ask. There is no doubt that students admire and love Master Taningco, and Master Taningco feels the same towards them. For parents considering starting your Might Mite (4-6 year old child/children) at Tama, I highly encourage it. Your child will be welcomed and put at ease immediately. Master Taningco: There is no doubt that Master Taningco possesses a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the world of martial arts. But what I most admire is his patience. Anyone who knows me knows that I ask questions; I will be the first to admit that I don’t understand something. No matter how many times I admit my confusion and ask for help, Master Taningco works with me until I understand the technique. Another mark of a good instructor aside (from patience) is one who knows how and when to praise. Master Taningco is observant of the progress his students makes and does not shy away of complimenting their improvements. A simple word of praise can go a long way. Often times learners (of any subject/discipline) can feel frustrated at what seems to be a lack of progress; we don’t often see the progress we make, and it can be discouraging. But, a simple word from an instructor can boost our confidence and let us know that while we may not see or feel the change, we are definitely making forward progress. In short, I recommend visiting and trying out TAMA. It is a friendly, family-oriented environment with programs for all ages. TAMA offers great instruction in a non-intimidating, always pleasant atmosphere.

I remember shopping for my first martial arts school. The first thing that struck me about TAMA was the skill of its senior students. I knew I had found the school for me. The kempo program is deep and diverse, and and students are encouraged to explore techniques outside their formal curriculum and bring them into their own personal repertoire. I had the good fortune to study 10 years at TAMA before a work-related move took me two time zones away. My time at TAMA laid a solid, diverse foundation that I continue to build on today. If you're in or around Dayton and looking for a martial arts school, be sure to check it out.

As a student for almost 10 years and instructor for 4 years, I can't see myself training anywhere else! The welcoming and positive atmosphere combined with our tradition of excellence and personal development make this my home away from home. The children's program is great for developing discipline and self-confidence, and adult programs are wonderful for self-defense and getting in shape! You won't find a better martial arts center in the Miami Valley!

2015 is my 39th year teaching in Dayton Metropolitan area. It is my 40th overall teaching two years from New Mexico State.  Teaching for the last 40 years and practicing for the last 49 years has been a love affair of mine since a young child other than basketball and watercolor painting and designing.
From, humble beginnings, without a uniform, from private lessons to group settings in commercial martial arts school and into research and development, gave me empowerment. That is self-esteem, self-confidence without arrogance. Just knowing yourself, a little surer and that you can kick butt if need be.

Check out this wonderful summary of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day complete with a photo slideshow of the event.
Saturday, April 26, 2014, started out as a chilly morning at the Kettering Recreation Complex for the 2014 World Tai Chi and Qigong day event. The wild Canadian Geese were playing on the pond next to the center and people were out strolling along the walk paths enjoying the spring day. As many of the Tai Chi players started to assemble, old and new friends said their greetings. The sun was trying to peak out from behind the clouds as if to say we...
