+stan wong and we're treating it seriously indeed. Here is an update with additional information: http://insights.ubuntu.com/2015/10/15/update-on-ubuntu-phone-security-issue15. lis 2015.
+stan wong this indeed is an issue that we took serious in the last few hours. We have assessed the situation and impact and have taken the necessary steps to protect existing users from downloading the app, have addressed our review process to catch this exploit in the future, have verified all existing apps in the store to not make use of the exploit and are about to release an update to devices to remedy any remaining issues. Full context can be followed here: http://insights.ubuntu.com/2015/10/15/update-on-ubuntu-phone-security-issue/15. lis 2015.
+stan wong or any four digit PIN. I'm actually rather surprised sudo will accept a password coming from a pipe, instead of the terminal. I can't think of any legitimate use for this off hand. If you need a script to run a sudo command, you should edit your sudoers file to allow this to happen without a password, rather than code the password in your script.15. lis 2015.
two questions: so, all confined apps can't sudo/elevate privileges even if asking user? the Terminal app is still unconfined?15. lis 2015.
Nice catch, saw the insights report. The e-mail address provided in the app is from "mailinator.com"; they provide disposable e-mail addresses, and that account mails are visible at https://mailinator.com/inbox.jsp?to=mmrow1516. lis 2015.
Thank you for fixing the issue. +Oliver Ries +David Planella16. lis 2015.
