A new version of Game Over! is live and can be found by going through the Community Showcase. DocumentsUI joins the party this time around, along with some very special additions. This marks the official announcement of DLC’s which were teased some time ago and have been live for a while now. DLC’s allow users to apply Game Over!’s icons and images on top of other themes. For example, Domination with Mario icons, Spectrum with Mega Man icons(coming soon), and so on. The DLC options really only contain images/icons; the majority of the theme(backgrounds and various colors) comes from the default base level overlays.
For the uninitiated, here are the basic steps for setting up Game Over!
For the full Game Over! experience, you must select a color scheme from the base Android overlay. If you apply the base Android overlay without a color option, you WILL get plenty of white on white text. This requirement is very similar to the setup steps found in other themes.
- Select the rest of the base overlays that are available then build and apply just like you would with any other theme.
- The SystemUI Navbar and Status Bar overlays have their own dropdowns. You should select an option from these dropdowns to get themed Nav Bar/Status Bar icons.
- From Game Over!'s main dropdown, change "default base variant..." to the option of your choice. For the sake of this example, I'll use "DLC-PlumberBros".
At this point, it's important to note that you do NOT need to select a color option from Framework while using a DLC since you already did that for the base overlay(and doing so again will generate an error). Leave that alone. Just select the Android overlay, along with the others you'd like to use, then build and apply. Similarly, you do NOT need to apply any Nav Bar or Status Bar from within a DLC, as you should have already done this at the base setup stage.
If for some reason you still have the base overlay icons after applying the PlumberBros DLC, check your priorities and make sure that the PlumberBros variant is at the bottom of the list for the particular app in question. If that fails, you may need to restart the SystemUI.
To use Game Over! alongside another theme:
Set up the theme of your choosing according to that themer’s instructions.
Once you have another theme in place, go into Game Over! and select a DLC option then apply the overlays that you want to use. For example, you can set up Magpie/Domination/OrangeKittens/Spectrum/etc as you normally would. Then select the PlumberBros DLC from within Game Over! and select the SystemUI overlay to replace the QS tiles images. You can also select the AOSP Keyboard to replace some items with their PlumberBros counterparts, and so on.
Game Over!’s Base and DLC packs are as follows:

The CrysalPlumber DLC was made specifically to be used along with CrystalTronik, although there is nothing to stop you from using it with any other theme. Special thanks to +Direktive 4
for allowing me to use his color scheme and the “Crystal” moniker. Keep up the great work!
This release also includes some very special content from the artists listed below. You should pay their sites a visit; they are all quite talented and I'm confident you'll find plenty to enjoy. Thank you all very much for allowing me to feature your work here!
