An Indian-origin man residing in Australia has been found guilty of slaughtering his wife after she threatened to throw him out of their home.

After three days of deliberation, the jury passed a verdict for 24-year-old Chamanjot Singh, who killed his wife, Manpreet Kaur, at their Sydney home in December 2009.

The court heard that Singh had been caught in a triangle of desperation because he believed his wife was unfaithful to him, he was also under financial trouble and feared deportation.

According to local media reports, Kaur's throat was cut eight times with a box cutter, the court heard.
