"Here my people chanted—their stories of the dreamtime—of the spirit heroes—and of earth's creation—and our painted bodies flowed in ceremony." Aboriginal actor and direct descendant of Woollarawarre Bennelong, Ben Blakeney, during the opening ceremony of Sydney Opera House.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional owners of the land, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. It has been wonderful to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture this week and throughout the year.

Calling all photography heroes! Our new Environmental Sustainability Plan launches in August 2016, and we’re asking for your help filling the pages. The new plan will continue to highlight Jorn Utzon’s legacy, featuring the connection between Sydney Opera House and its surrounding environment. We want to see your photography skills in action depicting the Opera House and a connection to the land, nature, water, harbour, energy, weather or changing climate. We’ll choose 5 winners to have their photographs featured in the Environmental Sustainability Plan and all entries will go into the running to win a $250 Sydney Opera House gift voucher.

Think you have what it takes? Simply head to the page below and enter your details into the submission form. Competition closes July 8th 2016 at 11.59pm AEST. Photo by Big Lens Little Lens.

Sydney's most recognisable landmark helps all who see it smile with joy. Amazing and beautiful, pairing with another amazing landmark, Sydney Harbour Bridge. Walk along the foreshore and enjoy this wonderful Structure, viewing the sails from all angles. Wonderful iconic Sydney Harbour, how can you go wrong.

One of the most amazing structures ever build in the world! A must visit! Easy to get there with the train, just simply get off at Circular Quay station, it is only a walking distance away.

So sorry to break people's hearts but this place does not live up to expectations at all. I'm from Los Angeles and I'll tell you, Walt Disney Concert Hall is 100 times more glorious than this place. It's outdated, is one of those places that only look good on TV. Location makes up for the buildings lackluster appeal. Overall, still worth a visit if you're in Sydney but not worth its salt.

opera house is fantastic and the building was all that was expected went from Melbourne to Sydney specially to see Carmen as a special treat for my wife for our 50th anniversary 1. the performance should have been renamed as the story can only be loosely associated with the original 2. set in Cuba rather than Spain 3. bullfights were I believe stopped at the turn of the centenary although this was set in 1950"s 4. story with smugglers?? 5. Looked like an I phone was used on stage as part of the erformance?? orchestra performed fantastic cast performed well but had the performance context remained closer to the original it would have been more rewarding Georges, I think, would be also dissapointed

An absolutely iconic building. You must go there. Beautiful location, just next door to the Botanic Gardens and round the corner from Circular Quay ferry terminal and underground station. Excellent eateries in the opera house complex but they can be busy. Excellent opera, concert and play theatres but in an austere, modern style; don't expect Vienna or Budapest opera houses.

Another iconic landmark, this is truly Sydneys' soul. Has got drinks bar inside and several halls of different sizes for different performances. Iconic architecture and worth the tour for the technical details. Of course to also watch a performance with its excellent acoustics.

Breathtaking tourist attraction in Sydney. A must visit for all tourists and new sydneysiders alike. It is not as milky white as we see it in photos. The tiles have turned into a pale yellow colour. There are excellent bars and restaurants around the opera house to make your evening a better.
