Picking out a restaurant in Chinatown can be a little daunting sometimes. There’s always an overload of options and you want to make sure you leave satisfied without a large abyss in your wallet. Thankfully, there’s a nice place that’s called the Dumpling House Restaurant.

When going for dinner in Chinatown, it's so easy to stick to a few fave places and ignore the rest. Sometimes though, it's nice to try something new and that's when you may want to step in the House of Gourmet.

This is one of the well-known Chinese restaurants in Toronto which is why it’s often filled with loyal customers day to night. Walking into Swatow in the middle of the night is like walking into some kind of night-owl clubhouse. A crowd of regulars shuffle in and out, greeting the staff with everything from secret handshakes, to ‘high fives’ and ‘props’ as I giggle just overhearing it all.

Another fine Chinese restaurant that you may want to try when you’re in Toronto. Beyond the roast duck and squid hanging in window, King's Noodle House has been serving up fresh noodles. Recently, the dining room underwent a modern revamp, so, The place definitely looked more stylish and elegant but, thankfully, food and prices hadn't changed much.

The Stockyards is a barbecue restaurant specializing in southern-style slow cooked meats which is located at St Clair West, just west of Christie Street. The Stockyards is geared towards take-out as restricted space doesn't allow for more than about ten people to be seated at a time. Upon entering you’ll be greeted with the divine smell of a griddle busy with custom-made burgers and pitchers of both the home-made mint-infused limeade and tropical fruit punch to sample.

The Senator has a long and storied history in the city's downtown core. The self-proclaimed "oldest restaurant in Toronto," founded in 1929 and open in its current iteration since 1948, is tucked unassumingly into a neighbourhood of hulking edifices like the Ed Mirvish Theatre and the Citytv building.

Fresco Fish and Chips is a take-out joint located across the street from Kensington Park, ideal sitting grounds for a takeaway meal. Having grown up in a small fishing community on the coast of BC,expect fish and chips to be served straight off the docks with seagulls looming overhead and the scent of salt air permeating the air.
