In September of 2014, our toy poodle hurt himself when he was only 7 months old. We were not sure where to go, but we did know that Specialized Veterinary Services had opened near us. We took our precious baby in there because we really had no idea what had happened. He had seriously injured himself by jumping and falling on his hind leg. For everything that he went through, including 3 to 4 visits a week on the underwater treadmill after surgery, we thought the total bill was very reasonable. More importantly, everyone was excellent with our precious baby. They were compassionate and caring, and the surgeon and staff were all outstanding. Last night, New Years Eve, December 31st. 2016, our little guy once again hurt his leg. We were scared, as he could barely walk. I called Specialized Veterinary Services and the friendly and caring receptionist told me to bring him right up. My son and I brought our dog up around 7pm or so. Once gain, everyone could not have been more friendly, and all seemed to genuinely care. From the check in process by a very friendly and caring receptionist, to all the other staff we saw last night, we knew we made the right decision once again. The doctor that saw our poodle took the time to explain everything to us, and told us the best- case to almost worst-case scenario. He was very detailed and articulate, as well as being extremely knowledgeable in his field. While we were waiting for discharge papers, they had a critical emergency come in. Even though that is a top priority, three different staff members apologized for us having to wait and explained what had occurred. From when I left home until I got back home, it had not even been two hours. The emergency visit, which included a comprehensive exam, as well as the medicine, turned out to be much cheaper than I expected. Our poodle is doing much better today, as we have already seen a huge improvement. Like many of us, our animals are our family. We love them and they return the love to us. It is nice to know that Specialized Veterinary Services are not only open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but they have an experienced, dedicated and professional team ready to take care of our pets when that emergency arises. Yes, this is a legitimate post and I get nothing for writing this outstanding review. I took the time to write it because there has to be other animal owners out there wondering what to do when their loved one gets injured or seriously ill. All of us should have a regular veterinary that we take our animals to. But when the unexpected emergency occurs, we have to be prepared. We all know these kind of things happen on a holiday or in the middle of the night, when most everywhere is closed. Thank you Specialized Veterinary Services for being there when we needed you.....both times!!

Not thrilled with this place. Quoted 4000-6000 dollars for surgery not including exams and blood work. I was able to find 3 other locations that quoted 2000-3000. Even the University of Florida's emergency care unit with some of the best animal surgeons in the country came in at half their price. It's a shame that they feel the need to take advantage of people at one of their most difficult times. If this is who you're calling, think twice. Call other locations to compare prices.

SVS strives to provide the best possible emergency and specialty care for all pets. SVS is not a general practice facility. We are board-certified specialists that endure years of schooling and training beyond what a primary care veterinarian trains. I assure you that no one at our hospital was trying to take advantage of anyone during their most difficult time. We found a bird with a broken wing on the road at midnight. We called and they answered. We then brought the bird in and they were so professional and happy to take the bird in at 1 am. Great caring staff there!!

All I can say is check the cost first and if it is a true emergency go somewhere else, like viscera-prado in the cape, they actually had a vet on the premises and did a great job. But I really do like the 2 million dollar building all you 5 star people are paying for. I'm not the only one I know 3 other people in our development that were charged thousands of dollars just for a dehydration issue cured with a very simple iv fluid drip,

my 5 month old kitten was in distress Wednesday 10 am during office hours, a friend took her in and they refused to see her without a minimum deposit of $835 (on a bill in best case would be close to $2000).I tried to do it over the phone they would not cooperate in any way and turned her out (after charging $100 for absolutely nothing). I can say this because (after seeing someone else that did the same test they were charging $835 for $315). I find her taking a turn for the worse on a Sunday. I called for advice and asked what they found in the exam they charged me for and they admitted they did not do anything except take her vitals. And would not even give me any advice. They do not care for the animals just how much they can soak you for when you are the most vulnerable.

I cannot speak highly enough about the entire staff at SVS, and in particular about Dr Eisele, Melissa Eisele, Valerie Sanders and Shelly Franklin. I and my family ( two labs) have always been treated like family at SVS and my girls, Gracie and Candy, have always received top notch care. I owe Candy's life to Dr. Eisele and Valerie, when she recently underwent a life saving operation. It was due to their skill and insight that I have her today. I also attribute my Gracie's amazing recovery from her FCE stroke 4 years ago to the intensive rehab program she underwent under the watchful care and direction of Valerie Sanders. I highly recommend SVS to everyone!
