SUTTON EVENTS:
The annual Sutton Park Family Fun Day takes place tomorrow (Sunday) from 12 noon to 4pm. Organised by the Friends of Sutton Park, the annual Fun Day features a fun fair, go karts, classic cars, prize stalls, birds of prey, Sutton Park Shield Football Tournament, Royal British Legion etc.

SUTTON EVENTS:
St Helens College horticulture staff and students are holding 'The Big Plant Sale!' at their Sherdley Park base, opposite the former Pets Corner this Saturday 12th, as well as on Saturdays May 26th and June 9th.

A wide range of flowers, conifers, shrubs and perennials will be available, including bedding plants, plastic and wicker hanging baskets, stylish containers and tubs in different finishes and planting schemes suitable for patios and entrances etc.

There will also be complimentary advice on gardening and planting. All purchases cash only.

SUTTON EVENTS:
The Sutton Manor Woodland is featuring three performances of Lewis Carroll’s nonsense poem 'The Hunting of the Snark' on April 19th, 20th and 21st at 7pm. Tickets for this “outdoor promenade theatre adventure” cost £10 adults, £6 children with more details at https://forestry.gov.uk/snarkhunter.

A new article by Rita Woodward (Kenwright) called 'Cycling, Tennis and the 8-15' has been added to the Memories of Sutton section of the Sutton Beauty & Heritage website. Rita recalls her activities in Sutton during the '50s and '60s, including bike riding, the Sutton Parish ‘8-15’ group, helping out at Sutton Scout camps in the Lake District, playing tennis at Sutton Cricket Club and dancing to Roy Hordley’s ‘Poachers’. The 1200-word article includes 11 photographs.

Memories of Sutton Part 27 is a new page that features Norris Kenwright’s 2,500 word article called ‘Sutton My Early Years in the 1940s’. In the article Norris describes the early war years in his beloved Sutton Park, the family pigsty, the games and activities that they played, Norris’s accidental 'arson', parties and celebrations etc. The article is illustrated by fourteen images.

Memories of Sutton Part 25 has been added featuring a 2,700-word article ‘Memories of Clock Face Colliery’ by Keith Longworth. In his 2,700-word article Keith describes his typical working day, the New Dip district, roof supports and how a lack of sunlight down the mine caused a skin condition that forced him to quit the colliery. Thanks to Harry Hickson for providing much of the illustration.
