Today is the anniversary of the infamous Ray Rice saga that erupted last year.  We did a project to honor the brave domestic violence survivors who came out last fall to put a face behind the reality of abuse.

Great case study in leveraging big data to solve big societal problems. State of Indiana will be looking at domestic violence too.  Yay!

Anyone know where I can reach a Gmail human or file a support ticket? This offered no help at all for my problem.

What we love about the High Point story is its no BS focus on the abuser. And the fact that the program is 100% data-driven.

A story broke here in Florida about a half-hour from me that has unnerved me all week.  This young woman's story is not an isolated case.  These stories happen every day.  We can prevent tragic homicides like these if we work together as a community to solve the problem. #bigdata   #datascience   #domesticviolence

Have been remiss in updating here.  I don't even have a Big Mountain Data brand page on G+!  (Need to get that done.)  In the meantime, I'm starting to write more about what we're up to.  If you have any passion around this mission, we'd love to hear from you.   #domesticviolence   #bigdata   #datascience  #focused-deterrence
My childhood friend and I had a crazy idea we could make a difference in the field of domestic violence. We had no credentials, no pedigrees, no experience or earned authority to be able to do this.  We just had our own personal experiences, and the skills we've accumulated in our long-tenured careers in mass communications and technology.I set about creating a new company that would examine the possibilities in analyzing large swaths of data to ...

Have to agree. Great experience. We were in and out in a very short time, and the assistant manager gave us some great deals. Tip: come early in the morning when they open or close to day's end when they close. We were the only ones in the store tonight.

Surprised the reviews are so negative on this apartment complex. I have had zero problems here. My building is very quiet and on the lake. Whenever I've had to contact maintenance, they came either the same day (sometimes within minutes) or the next day. They're always pleasant and fix everything right away. My neighbors are friendly, the grounds are kept beautifully, and overall, my experience has been wonderful living here. The location of the complex is excellent, as well. I especially like the online access to pay rent, and submit maintenance requests. I've spent time at both pools and they're kept to very high standards. Maybe the new management has made a difference from years past here. I have no complaints.

We chose Champlain because of its unique "upside down" curriculum, and its international reputation for excellence in Digital Forensics. We love the campus, the town of Burlington, and the small enrollment size. I've found the administrative staff incredibly helpful any time I've called about any issue. It's got a very comfortable private school vibe.

I've visited a number of dentists and oral surgeons in the Austin area, and have had mixed results (mostly negative). Dr. Hammons is the *only* dentist who made me feel completely at ease about a particularly unpleasant dental procedure I needed to have. I found the entire experience completely stress-free. The prices are very competitive, the staff is friendly, and Dr. Hammons is a knowledgeable pro who talks to you like a person, not a patient. Highly, highly recommend.

Not paid to write this, and I'm not related to the owner… I had an exceptional experience at this auto body shop. My car was side-swiped over the holidays and required fairly extensive body work. From start to finish, these guys were friendly, honest, and great to deal with. The work they did on the car was superb, and I was remarkably pleased at how well the experience went. They also have an Enterprise car rental desk on-site. I also had zero issues with the car rental experience. My insurance company, Geico, recommended this as one of their preferred suppliers. Altogether a shockingly stress-free experience. This is now my #1 go-to source for auto body repair (which, of course, I hope I'll never need again). Highly recommend.

Dr. Barnett and his team performed a small miracle with my teenage son. The process took a lot longer than I had anticipated, but they were very patient and made sure my son's orthodontic treatment was executed properly. No child likes the ordeal surrounding getting braces, but Dr. Barnett's team made the process as painless and convenient as possible. The before and after photos are amazing! The staff was very helpful and friendly. I especially enjoyed the office's use of electronic reminders, free wifi in the office, and the easy payment plan.
