Enlightenment as Community

Regardless of whether or not you consider yourself spiritually oriented, this quote from Thich Nhat Hanh raises powerful questions about the future of an interconnected humanity. Through our networks, our communities, might we, together, become something far more than the sum total of our individual parts?

“It is probable that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community, a community practicing understanding and loving kindness, a community practicing mindful living. This may be the most important thing we can do for the survival of the earth.”

It should open the door for more connections of otherwise unknowns. Allowing to comment without having to include in circles is a bonus.

I too have this issue of showing up and trusting that I can do the work even when I feel 100% that I cannot. So thank you for..."always show up." <3

Awesome Kickstarter campaign for YOUR personal robot.

Here's another clever personal robot design seeking funding on Kickstarter. This one uses your smartphone as a brain.

This blog is my chronicle of creating life anew around a new center. I write about business, personal growth, social technology, spirituality, marketing, and the world we are creating at the confluence of these forces. These are the things I have always loved; they are my loves still.
Introduction
Intersections, crossroads, port cities are places where people searching for more life avidly seek. Culture grows and people thrive where new connections are made. How it happens is always a bit mysterious.

21st century business is this pulsing environment for me. Marketing is its soul, the force that transmutes human desire into lasting human development.

This is the age of the empowerment of the individual -- as consumers, as activists, as creators. Social technologies give us the power that feudal Lords, corporate behemonths and constitutional governments once kept to themselves.

With our newfound power comes responsibility. What is the world we are creating? Are we making the world that, in our hearts, we know we want? Or are we letting our new tools control us and leave us awash in junk?

Answering that question is what this blog is about. It's also what my life is about. I hope to share what I am learning, engage you in conversation, and inspire you to reclaim your deepest desires and use the tools at hand to help you realize them. Together we can make the world a place where people aspire to advance the spirit and culture of our nation and know how to build that seeking into their business and employment lives.

This church is a treasure in "downtown" Arlington. It is a small, welcoming congregation that has a strong spiritual life, a rich connection to helping the poor in the community, and a fun spirit. This is a church that makes spirituality come alive in daily life. Like most Episcopal congregations it also has a rich music program and choir. I would recommend it to anyone looking to connect more with the Arlington community.

Roots is the creme de la creme of organic markets. Their store-made specialties are awesome. The bread (baked by The Upper Crust) is to die for.

If you want a fast yet delicious Sunday brunch, Nancy's is the place. We go nearly every week, and the kitchen does not disappoint. It's a fun, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.
