Attend orientation for more information on the truck driving classes. Surry Community College in cooperation with Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offers truck driver training at SCC’s Yadkin Center. The 8.5 week course, which meets Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM, leads to a CDL Class A license. Call (336) 386-3584 for more information.

North Carolina requires professional tradesman to obtain yearly continuing education units. Surry Community College offers CEUs for electricians. Nine students graduated from Surry Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program recently with a 100-percent pass rate on the State Comprehensive Written Examination administered by the North Carolina Department of Justice, Criminal Standards Division.

The next motorcycle safety class will be held July 10-12.
Motorcyclists can learn the skills necessary to operate a motorcycle in traffic during the NC Motorcycle Safety Program’s Basic Rider Course, which will be held on Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturdays Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., on the Surry Community College Driving Range at the Dobson campus located at 630 South Main Street. Surry Community College will be offering a beginner sewing class on July 14 and 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. each night. The easy apron class will guide students through the process of creating a handy, attractive, professionally constructed apron. 

Instructor Mary Emily Cooke will teach students how to read and use a pattern, as well as how to properly cut and mark fabric. Participants will discuss straight and cross grains in fabric and the importance of proper pressing. 

The class fee of $49 includes all supplies and the use of a sewing machine. The class will be held at The Pilot Center, 612 East Main Street, Pilot Mountain. Registration and pre-payment are due by July 10.

Located in the NC foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Introduction
Surry Community college's main campus is located in Dobson, NC in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains servicing Surry and Yadkin counties. We also operate the Workforce Development Center in Mount Airy, the Yadkin Center in Yadkinville, the Pilot Center in Pilot Mountain, and The Elkin Center in Elkin.

We offer 36 areas of study, many of which have options for an associate degree, diploma or certificate, as well as online degrees.

In addition, the college serves over 18,000 students in over 1,500 classes through our Corporate and Continuing Education division. This area of the college offers a variety of learning opportunities through “not-for-credit” classes for those looking to take a one-time class for personal enrichment or to expand their knowledge base in a particular area.
