A mini review of Yuphoria after using it for a week , I am not going go into detailed specs
My first aim was to find temorary fix to some of the software bugs that was present, some of them are mentioned here. I wasnt lucky enough to get the June manufactured device (which is apparently bug free) even though I had bought it on the 11th June sale.
I have already unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device. Used hot loaded TWRP to take a nandroid backup. I also flashed the incremental update but it brought back the proximity sensor issues , so reverted back to the old build.
Display : Colour reproduction is very good and the colors dont get washed off while viewing it from an angle ( a major problem with my previous android phone MMX A89). Highly reflective display making it very difficult to use in direct sunlight . Tip : Use a matte screengaurd.
Bug 1 = Pinkish display : nitpicking
Software : Amazing !!! Stock android fans wont be disappointed Its certainly not bug free but the bugs wont affect the daily use of the phone.
Bug 1 = The proximity sensor wasn't working at all when I unboxed the phone , It was however fixed after resetting it.
Bug 2 = Adaptive Brightness = Works fine but the brightness controller on the notification panel becomes useless.
Bug 3 = Its showing 'Charging' on the lock screen even after the charger is disconnected. Fix = Always remember to switch off the charger before disconnecting it from the phone.
Bug 4 = Tap to wake up and tap to sleep are brilliant features but it causes some issues every now and then. Fix = Live with it
Camera = Has a life of its own. Sometimes it takes brilliant pics sometimes the focus is lost , sometimes the exposure level is too high. The best thing is to take multiple pics of the subject and choose the best later. Some photos are attached for reference. Macro mode is surprisingly great. Front camera is OK
Bug 1 = Yellowish tint in photos taken via flash . Fix = Use Camera Zoom FX and change the White Balance to 'Daylight'.
Battery : Disappointing. It certainly ruins the experience. It deserved a 3000MaH battery at least. The level falls very fast on 2G/3G , I got a maximum of 3hrs 30min of screen on time on 3G. Its slightly better on WiFi . I have underclocked it to 1152Mhz and changed the governor to 'ondemand' , it has slightly improved the battery life.
Sound : I am not an audiophile , seems ok to me. The stock earpods are useless I am using Philips SHE3590.
Planning to check out CM12.1 nightlies tonight , Will update later.
