New at Summit Racing: Fox Racing Shox

Their spell checker may not work, but Fox Racing’s Shox sure do. Fox Racing has been the leader in dirt bike and ATV/UTV suspension for over 30 years. Check out the podium winners in virtually any powersports competition and chances are you’ll see that famous Fox Racing tail on their shocks.

Summit Racing carries 21 types of Fox Racing Shox for everything from trail riding to all-out desert racing, including these:

Float 3 Evol RC2 ATV Shox
These air shocks are easily adjustable thanks to the EVOL air chamber design. The dual rate air spring has two air chambers. The main chamber is infinitely adjustable between 50 and 300 psi, making the Float series the most progressive and adjustable air shock on the market.

The EVOL chamber lets you fine-tune for rider weight and terrain. Increasing air pressure in the EVOL air chamber will give a more progressive spring curve to protect against harsh bottom-outs. Decreasing air pressure will provide a more linear curve to maximize usable travel.

The Float 3 Evol RC2s are up to six pounds lighter compared to OEM coil spring setups. Additional features include:
• High-flow velocity-sensitive damping
• External rebound adjustment knob
• High-flow compression adjuster
• Aerospace-grade PTFE-lined spherical bearings
• Chrome silicone negative spring
• Anodized internal floating piston and bearing housing
• 6061-T6 aluminum body, sleeves, and reservoirs with exclusive Kashima coating
• Fully rebuildable and serviceable

1.5 Podium RC2 ATV/UTV Shox
The 1.5 Podium RC2 Utility shocks offer velocity-sensitive damping control and external rebound adjustment, plus a Dual Speed Compression (DSS) adjuster to further fine-tune ride and handling with adjustments for low- and high-speed shock compression. Additional features include:
• Kashima coated 6061-T6 aluminum body
* 5/8 in. hard chrome shaft
• Velocity-sensitive damping control
• Piggyback reservoir
• Chrome silicon spring
• Teflon®-lined spherical bearings

Podium RC3 Dirt Bike Shox
Podium RC3 shocks offer 24 different adjustments for high- and low-speed compression, rebound, and bottom-out control that can be set independently of each other. That gives you complete control over shock performance. Coil-over springs are sold separately. Other features include:
• Fast Adjust Spring preload system technology—adjust preload with just a 4mm wrench
• Anti-wallow control
* High-flow damping piston
• Type III hard coated shaft, shock body, and reservoir

Fox Racing has a very good shock tuning section on their web site: http://www.ridefox.com/help.php?m=powersports&ref=topnav

Summit Racing also carries Fox Racing shock adjusting and rebuilding tools, shock rebuild components, fork cartridges, and more.

Fat N’ Furious: Rolling Thunder Episodes 7 and 8 Parts Combos Now Available at Summit Racing

Season Three of the hit show Fat N’ Furious: Rolling Thunder wraps up with Episodes 7 and 8 on Discovery Channel’s “Motor Monday” program block. The show follows the larger-than-life exploits of Tommy Christmas, Chuck Kountz, Steve McGranathan, and Andy Pivarnik as they transform old vehicles into rolling masterpieces.

Summit Racing has created Fat N’ Furious Parts Combos that feature many of the parts that go into these projects. In Episode 7, the crew builds a 12-second Ford Pinto wagon and a 1,000 horsepower Plymouth Belvedere. In the season finale, they rebuild Tommy Christmas’ 1965 Ford Falcon drag car and turns a 1973 Ford Gran Torino into a road course racer.

A Christmas Automotive customer named Scott wanted to build a hot 12-second Pinto wagon for his son, who is currently in the Air Force. Problem was, another shop had completely messed it up.

The Fat N’ Furious crew undid what the other ‘mechanic’ did. They stuffed an ATK Engines 347 cubic inch, 410 horsepower crate engine in the Pinto’s tiny engine bay, Other goodies include an NOS Cheater nitrous oxide system, a Summit Racing Rod Builder exhaust system, and QuickTime electric exhaust cutouts.

Fat N’ Furious pal Tom Paranzino didn’t want much out of his ’67 Belvedere—just 1,000 horsepower, nine second ETs, and nice street manners.

The 440 cubic inch big block got a set of Stage V Hemi cylinder heads and a Mopar Performance dual quad intake with two 650 cfm Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS carburetors, plus an NOS Cheater nitrous oxide system. The built Torqueflite 727 automatic got a higher-stall TCI Streetfighter torque converter to efficiently handle the engine’s power and still be streetable.

Fat N’ Furious 1965 Ford Falcon

Tommy Christmas’ old 1965 Falcon drag racer sat collecting dust for years. He decided enough’s enough and decided to rebuild the car to run the 10.50 second class at the final race of the season at Quaker City, his local track.

Tommy and his gang bolted in a 425 horsepower BluePrint Engines 408 cubic inch crate engine, a Performance Automatic Street Smart C-4 transmission, and a Currie 9 inch Ford rear axle with a Track Lok differential and 3.70 gears. The Falcon was stiffened with a Competition Engineering roll cage and fitted with front disc brakes, Summit Racing traction bars, and Mickey Thompson ET Drag slicks.

https://www.summitracing.com/search?gnview=Horizontal&GroupBy=ProductName&SortBy=BestKeywordMatch&SortOrder=Ascending&keyword=Fat%20N%20Furious%20Ford%20Torino
Tim Hrina is a fireman who wanted to race his 1973 Gran Torino on a impromptu road course he and his friends set up in an abandoned industrial park.

Christmas Automotive replaced the Torino’s 302 with a rebuilt 351 Cleveland outfitted with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Flowtech headers, and a Summit Racing Billet distributor. The suspension was revamped with Moog springs, QA1 shocks, and Addco anti-sway bars, plus Stainless Steel Brakes rear disc brakes. The Torino rides on BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires on Wheel Vintiques Magnum 500 wheels.

New episodes of Fat ’N Furious: Rolling Thunder will air Mondays on the Discovery Channel at 10 pm EST.

Summit Racing Now Carries Goodmark Restoration Parts for Buick Regal and Olds Cutlass

Those of a certain age remember when the new downsized GM A- and G-body intermediate cars appeared on dealer lots in the late 1970s and early 1980s. They were smaller and lighter than the previous versions, but were still traditional body-on-frame cars that could accept V8 engines. It was like Christmas for the drag racers and oval trackers who turned those As and Gs into race cars.

Some of those cars—Buick GN/GNXs and Olds Hurst Cutlasses come to mind—are very desirable and people are restoring them. Summit Racing now carries Goodmark restoration parts to help make those restorations easier. Here are the latest parts we’ve added:
• Steel cowl induction hoods
• Headlamp bezels
• Side marker lights
• Front bumper filler panels for Buick Regal
• Grilles for Olds Cutlass

Summit Racing also carries Goodmark sheetmetal and other restoration parts for Regal and Cutlass as well as 1978-85 Chevy Malibu and 1980-88 Monte Carlo. Just click here (https://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/goodmark), type in the year, make, and model of your car, and see what we have available.

Summit Racing 1964.5-68 Ford Mustang Automatic to T-5 Transmission Swap Parts Combos Now Available

Our friend and automotive journalist Christopher Campbell is redoing a 1968 Mustang for his mother, who has owned the car since 1971. It has a 408 cubic inch stroker small block under the hood, and Mom decided that she wanted a modern five-speed manual transmission to bang gears with. So that’s what Christopher did—you can read all about the swap at our OnAllCylinders blog: http://www.onallcylinders.com/2016/07/07/single-part-number-5-speed-swap-summit-racing-simplifies-swapping-modern-manual-classic-mustangs/

Summit Racing now offers Mustang Automatic to T-5 Transmission
Swap Parts Combos for 1964.5 to 1968 Mustangs with a small block V8. Just two part numbers include all of the parts needed to complete the swap.

Mustang Automatic to T-5 Swap Transmission Combo
This Combo has the parts needed to fit a Ford Racing T-5 transmission in any 1964.5 to 1968 Mustang with an automatic transmission. It includes the transmission; an American Powertrain ProFit installation kit and smooth-acting Hydramax hydraulic throwout bearing; Centerforce clutch kit and flywheel; Ford Racing bellhousing; and ARP fasteners.

Mustang Automatic to T-5 Swap Pedal and Shifter Combos
To complete your T-5 installation, add the appropriate Summit Racing Mustang Automatic to T-5 Swap Pedal and Shifter Combo—SUM-CSUMSRMA002 (1964.5-66) or SUM-CSUMSRMA003 (1967-68). The combos have the Scott Drake parts needed to install a new shifter and clutch pedal assembly—shift lever and boot, clutch pedal assembly and pedal pad, brake pedal pad, and clutch pedal roller bearing. The brake pedal assembly is not reproduced currently. We do include a brake pedal pad and trim you can use on a modified stock automatic brake pedal or a pedal assembly sourced from a stick shift Mustang. Learn all about which brake pedals fit which car here: http://www.mustangsteve.com/fyi_brakepedals/msFAQbrakepedals.html

New at Summit Racing: Cold Air Inductions Air Intakes

With about a gazillion cold air intakes on the market, it seems like they can’t be all that difficult to make. What’s hard is building an air intake that actually makes a real performance difference. Cold Air Inductions (CAI) builds those kinds of cold air intakes. For example, a CAI intake was dyno-proven to add up to 14 rear-wheel horsepower to a Chevy Silverado 1500 with an LS V8.
CAI was started by a GM engineer who decided to make his own cold air intake after he couldn’t find one that met his expectations. Those high expectations are reflected in every CAI intake:
• Each intake is designed and engineered for a specific vehicle for maximum performance, and a perfect fit
• Intake tubing is made from high-quality aluminum--not heat-absorbing plastic—and is thermal coated to reduce heat soak and block radiant heat
• Aluminum air boxes are lined with 3/8 inch thick heat barrier material to further reduce air temperature
• Air filter elements pose minimal flow restriction

Just as impressive is how CAI tests its cold air intakes. Each design is dyno tested on a vehicle until it is proven to increase power without the need for an ECU recalibration. All dyno pulls are made with the hood down to simulate real-world driving conditions, and CAI uses thermal imaging to find hot spots and adapt an intake’s thermal coatings so incoming airflow is as cool as possible.

Summit Racing currently offers CAI cold air intakes for the following vehicles:
• 2010-2016 Camaro
• 2007-13 GM Silverado/Sierra, Avalanche, Suburban, Tahoe, Escalade LS V8
• 2000-2009 Chevy Impala
• 2005-10 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger and Charger with Hemi
• 2004-06 Pontiac GTO

Summit Racing also carries Cold Air Induction Upgrade Kits for owners who are adding a Magnuson or Whipple supercharger to their 2010-14 Camaros already equipped with a CAI cold air intake. The kits include the necessary thermal coated tubing and silicone coupler needed to adapt the CAI intake to the new supercharger.
