As Seen on PowerNation TV: Nitto NT 555 Tires

Born from racing, bred for the street. The Nitto NT 555 tire features a contact patch much larger than a typical tire, which contributes to tenacious grip on the tarmac. Three grooves run through the center of the tread pattern to channel water efficiently, and lateral groves push standing water away. The grooves work together to significantly reduce the chance of hydroplaning.

The tires have a unique rubber compound, formulated specifically to increase grip and tread life. The high, rigid tread blocks ensure stable contact with the road. These tires are an ideal choice for daily drivers, working well in both wet and dry conditions.

Nitto NT 555 Tires come in sizes up to 22 inches in diameter. The Truck Tech guys chose a 295/45-18 size set of for their 1955 Ford F-100 project truck. Many other tread and section widths are available as well.

Nitto NT 555 Tires were featured on Episode 2 of PowerNation’s Truck Tech. Watch the full episode here:

I have these on my Mustang. Just put on my second set. First set lasted 30k miles. Great dry grip and they also work very well in the wet.

New at Summit Racing Equipment: Douglas Powersports Tire and Wheel Combinations

One-click solutions that eliminate fitment guesswork. The right wheel and tire combo is essential for safety and performance. Problem is, picking a complementing pair isn’t always easy. That’s why Douglas has done your homework for you by creating perfectly matched wheel and tire combinations.

The combos start with a wheel chosen from Douglas’ Alumilite line: Sport Red Label, A5, A5 WR, Evo, Rokout, and G2. Then, Douglas wraps the wheel in a tire selected from one of its seven ATV tire series: Doonz, Doonz HD, XC, JR MX, JR XC, and MX V3.

The best part is that the tires come mounted on the wheels, which means ATV owners won’t have to worry about doing the tricky beadwork themselves. The combos include two wheel/tire pairings, tailored to either a front or rear installation. Riders are encouraged to purchase a front and rear set together.

Multiple applications are offered, in an array of sizing, bolt pattern, offset, and backspace options. Enthusiasts can get the wheels in black and polished finishes.

Trick Flow GenX® 260 Cylinder Heads for GM LS7

Cylinder heads at the top of the GM LS7 performance heap. Trick Flow doesn’t mess around when it comes to the GM LS—its GenX 260 cylinder head series is the latest salvo in the war for LS7 dominance. The heads use high flow, high velocity CNC Competition Ported runners to deliver all-out flow and performance across the entire powerband.

Trick Flow GenX 260 cylinder heads are cast from A356-T6 aluminum, beefed-up with extra material to make them rigid and strong. Factory ports, valve angles, and locations have been preserved to ensure compatibility with stock valves and pistons. There’s also plenty of clearance for 3/8 inch pushrods and through-deck coolant holes, which means they’re compatible with all GM LS gasket and block combinations. The heads feature one-piece billet aluminum rocker arm mounts to stabilize the valvetrain, yet they’re removable if builders opt for shaft rocker setups.

Engine builders can choose from fully assembled heads (with PAC Racing Pacaloy™ valve springs, retainers, locks, and valves) or bare head castings.

Trick Flow GenX 260 cylinder heads for GM LS7 were featured on Episode 4 of PowerNation’s Detroit Muscle. Watch the full episode here:

Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Crate Engines: Drop One in and Go Racing

A lot of tracks and race classes require a spec crate engine. Or maybe you’d just rather simply unbox your horsepower and drop it in your race car. Whichever path you take, Summit Racing has you covered with Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Crate Engines. These engines are built with all-new parts and factory-sealed to meet the rules in classes requiring such engines.

CT350 Crate Engine
Based on Chevrolet Performance’s HO street crate engine, the 9.1:1 compression, 350 cubic inch small block makes 350 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 390 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3,800 rpm. The CT350 delivers 300 lbs.-ft. of torque between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm, which lets you stay in a lower gear to improve lap times.
Features include:
• Four-bolt main block with one-piece rear main seal
• Nodular iron cast crankshaft, hypereutectic cast pistons, and powdered metal connecting rods
• Hydraulic flat tappet camshaft (.435 inch intake/.460 inch exhaust lift, 212° intake/222° exhaust duration at .050 inch)
• Vortec cast iron cylinder heads with 64cc chambers, 170cc intake runners, 1.94 inch intake/1.50 inch exhaust valves
• Eight quart deep sump oil pan with kickout—will clear most GM rear-steer chassis
• High rise dual plane aluminum intake manifold
• HEI distributor and harmonic damper
• Stamped steel valve covers with racing style breathers

CT355 Crate Engine
This engine is based on the famous ZZ4 crate engine. That means it gets a stronger bottom end with a forged crank and high-silicon pistons, a roller camshaft, and ZZ4 aluminum cylinder heads. Those parts mean the 10.1:1 compression CT355 makes, 355 horsepower at 5,250 rpm, and 405 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm.
Other features include:
• Four-bolt main block with one-piece rear main seal
• Hydraulic roller camshaft (.474 inch intake/.510 inch exhaust lift, 208° intake/221° duration at .050 inch)
• Aluminum cylinder heads with 58cc chambers, 170cc intake runners, 1.94 inch intake/1.50 inch exhaust valves
• Eight quart deep sump oil pan with kickout—will clear most GM rear-steer chassis
• High rise dual plane aluminum intake manifold
• HEI distributor, mechanical water pump, and harmonic damper
• Stamped steel valve covers with racing style breathers

CT400 Crate Engine
The CT400 uses the same short block as the CT355, but swaps the ZZ4 heads for a set of ‘Fast Burn” aluminum heads with LS-style beehive valve springs that allow the engine to rev more quickly. The 9.7:1 compression CT400 makes 400 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 400 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,500 rpm. Other features include:
• Aluminum cylinder heads with 62cc chambers, 210cc intake runners, 2.00 inch intake/1.55 inch exhaust valves
• Aluminum roller rocker arms
• Single plane aluminum intake manifold
• Eight quart deep sump oil pan with kickout—will clear most GM rear-steer chassis
• HEI distributor
• Harmonic damper
• Stamped steel valve covers with racing style breathers

CT525 Crate Engine
This is an LS-based engine, designed for Super Late Model and Modified classes. The 6.2L engine makes 525 horsepower at 6,700 rpm and 471 lbs.-ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm. Features include:
• Cast aluminum cross-bolted block
• Nodular iron crankshaft, hypereutectic pistons, powdered metal connecting rods
• Hydraulic roller camshaft (.525 inch intake/exhaust lift, 226° intake/236° duration at .050 inch)
• LS3 rectangular port aluminum cylinder heads
• Single plane carbureted intake manifold
• Six-quart oil pan, external oil filter and cooler required
• Coil-on-plug ignition
• Exhaust manifolds, water pump, and harmonic damper
• 14 inch/168-tooth flexplate

The CT350 and CT355 are externally balanced, while the CT400 and CT525 are internally balanced. The CT525 requires a Chevrolet Performance LSX controller, part number NAL-19171130.

These recently have been recalled because of a valve defect causing the stems to be broken and drawn into the cylinder.

New at Summit Racing: Stainless Works Headers and Exhaust Products

We’ll tell you up front that Stainless Works headers, exhaust systems, and other parts are not inexpensive. But when your project calls for nothing but the best, you won’t find anything that beats Stainless Works’ combination of performance, fit, and quality.

Stainless Works components are crafted from mil-spec 304 stainless steel that is much more corrosion-resistant the OEM-spec 400 series stainless steel. Maintaining your Stainless Works parts is easy— if you ever spill oil on it or it starts to discolor, just buff with a ScotchBrite pad.

Stainless Works also mandrel-bends its headers and exhaust systems on some very sophisticated CNC bending equipment. A computer controlled set of motors control the position of the tubing and the rotation of a bend in relation to another. The operator presses a button and machine goes to town—the operator does not touch a part until it the machine finished the bending process. That means you get exhaust components that provide maximum flow and will fit as designed.

Summit Racing carries these Stainless Works products:

Headers
These are as close to custom-built as you can get in a ready-made header. The full length headers have 3/8 inch thick flanges for a leak-free seal, and are available in versions to fit factory exhaust systems or custom Stainless Works cat-back exhaust system. The headers come complete with gaskets and mounting hardware. Summit Racing has Stainless Works headers for GM LS and Ford 5.0L, 5.4L, 6.2L Modular engines.

Exhaust Systems
These cat-back exhaust systems are fully CNC mandrel-bent for maximum flow. Most systems come with Stainless Works’ Turbo mufflers, tips, and necessary hardware. Systems are currently available for many late model GM and Ford musclecars, trucks, and SUVs as well as LS engine swaps in 1960s and '70s musclecars.

Mufflers
Stainless Works makes several types of mufflers:
• Turbo Mufflers have a deep, no-drone musclecar rumble at idle and cruising speeds, but really come to life when you jump on the throttle. The mufflers will never blow out or change their tone
• Chambered, Round, and Tube Mufflers have a louvered core that creates a deep "street rod" tone that is not overly aggressive. You can reverse them for a more aggressive sound
• Rat Trap and Turndown Mufflers are really loud, ideal for race cars or as mufflers for sidepipe style exhaust systems
If you want to build your own custom exhaust system, Summit Racing carries Stainless Works straight tubing and bends, exhaust hangers, clamps, exhaust tips, header flanges and collectors, oxygen sensor fittings, and catalytic converters.

New at Summit Racing: Kiwi Customs KSV9000 Mustang 557 Engine Combos

Kiwi Custom’s radical KVS9000 1966 Mustang wowed the Blue Oval troops at the 2014 SEMA Show. The name comes from the big block Ford under the hood—557 C.I.D. is just over 9,000cc, or nine liters. Built by John Bouchard of Bouchard Engines, the Ford makes almost 750 horsepower and over 750 pounds-feet of torque. Not bad for the price of a well-used Corolla.

Summit Racing has put together Engine Combos so big block Ford fans can duplicate the engine build—or use it as a foundation for something even more nutso.

Long Block Combo
John Bouchard chose his long block components wisely—Scat stroker rotating assembly with a cast crank, forged pistons, and H-beam rods; a custom-grind COMP Cams hydraulic camshaft; Trick Flow roller lifters and timing chain set; a Ford Racing oiling system; and ARP hardware.

Heads, Valvetrain, Induction Combo
Making 750 horsepower requires lots of airflow—and the fuel to make it burn. John Bouchard went all Trick Flow, starting with PowerPort® 325 aluminum cylinder heads with CNC Competition-Ported runners and combustion chambers. Filling those heads with air and fuel is a Trick Flow by Quick Fuel Race carburetor on an R-Series intake manifold. Other parts include Trick Flow roller rockers and chromoly pushrods

Completer Combo
Bouchard finished up the 557 engine build with a set of Hooker Super Competition headers, an MSD Ready-to-Run Billet distributor, Trick Flow cast aluminum valve covers, and an ARP engine accessory bolt kit.

You can read all about the engine build on Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords page at Mustang 360: http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/engine/1502-how-to-install-a-700-hp-supersized-stroker-budget-build/

New at Summit Racing: Clayton Machine Works

We know you guys love to accessorize—your hot rods, that is. All those little details are what make a car come alive, and Clayton Machine Works whittles some of the nicest detail parts we’ve seen in a long time. Small wonder they’ve been used on high-class builds like Ron Lallo’s ‘Twin Spin’ 1972 Camaro (http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/1404-1972-chevrolet-camaro-twin-spin/) and Jay Gruba’s 1937 Packard coupe featured in the April 2015 issue of Street Rodder Magazine.

Here are some of the Clayton Machine Works parts available now at Summit Racing:

Interior Door Handles
These handles are made from billet aluminum with a chrome plated finish. They have brushed aluminum and black bezel inserts that can be painted or upholstered to suit your tastes. Choose from three styles: ball end handle, ribbed flush handle, and open ellipse flush handle.

Dash Vent
This chrome plated, billet aluminum dash vent has a removable bezel that can be painted to match your vehicle's interior. The vent accommodates 2.5 inch diameter air ducting.

Manual Transmission Shifter Handles
Machined from billet aluminum, these handles are available in two styles. The solid shifter handles have a 30 degree kickback and come in black or gray anodized finishes. The truss-style handle has three angle adjustment settings that let you set the handle position in 10 degree increments. All handles have a 3/8”-16 threaded stud for the shift knob of your choice. They fit Tremec TKO-500, TKO-600, and T-56 transmissions with the standard two-bolt flange.

Throttle Pedal Assemblies
Summit Racing offers Clayton Machine throttle pedal assemblies with matching pedal pad covers for 1967-81 Camaro and Firebird, 1968-72 GM A-Body, and 1968-74 Nova. The throttle pedals are spring-loaded and fully adjustable; the pedal pads require no drilling to install. The throttle pedals and pad covers are also available separately.

Summit Racing also carries Clayton Machine Works interior lights, window cranks, dimmer switch covers, coil covers and relocation kits for GM LS engines, and body side moldings.
