This was not my first choice for a getaway but I joined the trip with my friends. I was really amazed at all the wildlife we were able to see. Plus I was so happy I can see from the boat and not trek though the jungle. I am not a fan of leeches! The jungle here is so thick plus it's unlawful to trek inside the protected areas. We saw orangutans, macaques, proboscis monkeys, lizards, saltwater crocodiles (2 at 3 meters long and several juniors), bats, flying frog , flying squirrel, birds birds and more birds , my top birds to list were the brown wood owl, oriental pied hornbill , black hornbill, blue eared kingfisher and crested serpent eagle. The rooms are comfy with hot water showers, amazingly nothing crawling around in the shower area or room. Very clean and bug free inside. Coffee, water, tea & hot pot in room. Good meals served three times a day. With early morning toast and coffee / tea , and also an afternoon tea and snack before dinner. There is a bar and some alcohol and wines available. There are three boat trips per day. One early morning while still dark. One afternoon and one evening. You can also choose to do a night cruise. I would recommend this as birds which you cannot see during the day you can see at night.

Paradise After three nights in Sukau Rainforest Lodge we concluded that this may have been the best place we have ever been. Admittedly, we were very lucky (we saw five orang utans in the wild and came across a group of elephants four times in two days), but even if that wouldn't have been the case, the lodge is beautiful, the staff is extremely friendly, the guides are very knowledgeable, and the surroundings are stunning. Although there are so many places around the world we still want to visit, we are already thinking about when we will be able to go back here.

We stayed here for two nights after being scuba diving at Mabul-Sipadan Island. The trip was booked trough Borneo Eco Tours and was hazel free. This place is really something. From the second we arrived by boat to the river jetty we felt that this was a great place. The team running this place really know how to take care of you. The service is high, the rooms are clean and have high standard. The food is excellent and the staff really care about you. The chef Jackie is a great guy and cock really good food. All the trips included in the price are great fun and we saw 6 out of 8 different Hornbills, all kinds of monkeys, many, many kinds of birds, crocodiles and much more. I must say that all the guides at the resort have great knowledge about the area and all the animals you can see. "Behind" the lodge there is a boardwalk and a path in the jungle, make sure that you don´t miss the marker posts along the path. They could be more visible, not to the management. We have already decided to come back, not only for the great nature but also for the nice staff and food.

We had an excellent experience at Sakau. The staff are awesome, friendly polite and want you to have a good time while you are on the river. The room are well appointed and you don't miss the aircon or TV at all. The guides are excellent and I still don't know how they spot everything that they do. We will be back when we return to Borneo next.

Wow! We spent 4 days and 3 nights here. Amazing! More sightings of Orangs than we dared wish for. Our guide Suhailee was so knowledgeable and all the staff at the lodge were focused on ensuring the guests had a great time. What a team! The trip to the Gomantong Caves was memorable. Food good, loved the curries and the fruits.

Great place, awesome wildlife, excellent team of staff - saw a plenty, ate very well, slept good and would recommend to any 'birder'. Saw Storm Storks, Fish Owls, several Kingfisher, Darter, Egrets, Wallace's Hawk Eagles, Hornbills a plenty - and several Orang-utans and macaques. Hope to return one day... Oh, and recommend Jeremy at Borneo Eco Tours for organising (and amending!) our trip.

Such a fantastic place to visit! The staff were always so positive helpful and welcoming, the food was great, location was beautiful and the wildlife was amazing! We saw more than a dozen Orang-utans, literally hundreds of monkeys, Crocodiles and loads more wildlife during our stay. The lodge is also run on solar power and rain water; it is closely involved in local villages and is slowly adopting back land from palm oil plantations in order to further regenerate the Forrest. If you are looking for a real environmentally conscious in-the-wild experience, you must go!

Amazing place , amazing people , amazing wildlife . There is nothing like it . You are quite literally in the middle of the forest and as we walked down the board walk on arrival we were greeted by a large group of small monkeys who proceeded to throw fruit rocks and twigs at us from the trees. The boat journey there was fab and we saw every animal you can think of ! On a clear night you can see the stars in a very different way (we lay on tables in awe ) . Simply put , if you really , genuinly like wild life , Borneo , and amazing experiences you will definitely enjoy staying in the most remote hotel on earth ( also , when David Attenborough went to the rainforest of Borneo , he stayed here ! , and on each door leading to the rooms which guests stay in , there are signs telling you which person from David's crew stayed in and if you are lucky enough , you might get to stay in David Attenboroughs room !) :) Don't think , just go !!!
