Yesterday I finally got my new British Passport.  I went to the post office with my application form and the pictures, the postmaster said, my one side is 0.25mm to the left.  So I went I took another set of photos at £12.50/set.
They were fine according to the postmaster.  However, last week, I got a letter from the passport office saying my eyes were not properly visible for the passport.  According to everybody my eyes were clearly visible - but not to the person in the Passport office!  So I went out immediately, had another set of photos taken and send them by special delivery costing £6.15.
It was obviously okay. However, I requested for my old passport, and they forgot to send it back.  May be the people in Passport Office (A Government Dept) are short of staff.

I am glad to see that India with the 4th largest Army in the world is at the forefront of helping the Nepalese people after the earthquake of 25th April.  The effort has been acknowledged even in the UK media.  I was in and out of Nepal last year from India.  It is open border.  So it is India's duty to help the neighbour.

Nehru was not and will never be popular in Bengal - and there are reasons.
After the explosive revelation that relatives of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose were spied on for two decades, his family has said it was always aware of the surveillance and saw it as a sign that the leader was alive long after he was presumed dead.

An interesting story about how paranoid Nehru was about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

It is interesting to see the news about UK general election which is about to take place on 7th May.  However, about 400 seats are considered as safe seats and so change of mind of few voters will not make any difference.  I live in a safe Conservative seat, and my vote really does not count.  I really know why the sitting MP, who is also a cabinet minister sometimes knocks on our door.  She is doing it just out of courtesy.    #ge2015   #UK

Problem is people don't trust government and fear that there will be death duty on the Gold deposit.  So, asking people to deposit gold is going to be a tall order.  Temples are different. But, then will people give gold to the God if they know that it will end up in the hand of the government?

It is amazing how the National Anthem fires up teams before matches.  Ironically, in just completed India .vs. Bangladesh match, both the national anthems were written by the same person and in the same language - Bengali.

Indians only won, because most of them play in the IPL.

Social Media is abuzz discussing how the same man - Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore - wrote the anthems of both countries.
