To our Amazing and Loyal Friends, Fans, and Supporters,
We have some BIG NEWS regarding the Future of Suite 709. Please Read!!!
It was in March of 2010 at SXSW...we were all a little anxious about playing. This was going to be the very first time that anyone had actually heard Suite 709 perform a full set...it was our debut. We all had on some variation of black and white with shades on. Who did we think we were? Lol!
Amidst our anxiety in wanting the crowd to receive us well, there was something electric about that first show. Something about that show let us know that we were on to something.
Bands are constantly being born in and around Austin, Texas and we were the new kids...Our main objective was to give Austin music lovers a taste of R&B and Soul...We set out to make music; not just any music, but "Feel Good Music", music that made people want to dance. Admittedly, we were a little flashy in the beginning with pompadours and bedazzled ties (lol), but our energy and the crowds' high energy; show after show, seemed to be the perfect match.
Our first EP, "Keys" was completely funded by our fans and our family. That was a theme throughout our entire existence as a band.
From sold out shows all over Austin, to Top 5 rankings in Austin Chronicle Music Awards year after year, having our song "Life Won't Let You Down" in heavy rotation on KGSR, and even to top spots of the iTunes R&B charts, our fans have been a driving force behind our success as a band.
Suite 709 went through so many different seasons, literally...whether it was playing at the Free Press Summer Fest in Houston, Texas in 103 degrees or on tour in a frozen Madison, Wisconsin at -2 degrees. Another theme of the band was the crazy ways and stories of how new fans would find us...at almost every show, in different cities, in different states, someone would tell us that a friend or family member emphatically told them to come to one of our shows. That's how our following really has been all over the country...very real.
We were created to create...The support of our fans, who have become our family has been so amazing. As we've grown in Suite 709, it's been a blessing to have our fan base grow with us. We honestly could not have accomplished what we accomplished without the love and support of you all, over these past few years.
As members of Suite 709, we've all grown individually in so many different ways. As we've grown and changed, we've all decided that it was time to close this chapter in our lives and launch something brand new and fresh.
We cannot thank you all enough. We've been extremely blessed... all your support, love, couches and floors that we've slept on during tours, the meals, the hugs...the meals. (Lol) We have the BEST fans from all around the world.
Although we're moving out of the "Suite" we're walking into something new that we can't wait for you to experience! Something with more soul, depth, and realness...something more raw.
We have literally poured our heart and soul into a brand new album and songs and are extremely blessed to be launching our new project, "J. Greene & The Steady," as Official Showcasing artists at SXSW 2014 next week in Austin!!! Look out for details on catching our very first public performances! We sincerely thank you for your support and more than ever ask for your continued support as we continue to create and perform real music with a message of hope and love for all as "J. Greene & The Steady" !
