Wow! An instant chocolate hit when the bottle is opened. Must Kuld is a velvety smooth, dark brown porter from Pöhjala in Estonia. It's strong stuff (7.8%) with a real taste of coffee and cocoa. Would be a good beer to end a big meal with and then sleep off! (Christmas present, perhaps?)

Bit disappointed in this IPA from Estonia. Out of Office from Sori. Refreshing citrus aroma, as usual, but when tasting there's just a little too much bitterness to the finish. Cool label, though.

Sugar's Copper Blue is 25yrs old & each listen is still as satisfying as the first. Just waves & waves of glorious noise. A good start to the day.

I fear that sampling beers instead of riding bikes is only going to have one outcome! Anyhoo, another from my Estonian Beer52 crate. An IPA from Pöhjala called Virmalised, which is the Aurora Borealis, apparently.

Firstly, I can't continue without mentioning the label. Most in the crate are quirky hand drawn characters and logos. This one, however, features a beautiful image of the Northern Lights. Estonia was once under Swedish rule and, even though it's probably a stretch, I might even venture that the bottle looks like something that might adorn a mock kitchen in IKEA.

As I opened the bottle, I immediately had my nose tweaked by the smell of a fresh citrus fruit salad. With each taste, the aroma hit first, and strongly. Sadly, the flavour of the beer doesn't quite reach the same heights.

Overall, it's good. High in alcohol, it's refreshing, yet dry - but I can't help thinking it tastes like biting into citrus fruit and taking a little of the pith with it, rather than just the juicy stuff.

The first drop from my Estonia-themed Beer52 crate. The brewery is called Óllenaut and the beer is a dark brown ale called, ahem, Pähklipureja - The Nutcracker in English.
It's like no beer I've tasted recently - in a good way. Very malty, nutty and lots of caramel. A good start to my Estonian odyssey and my Beer52 trial.

Break from work almost over, and house move & hip problems still dominating, thought I'd treat myself to a craft beer subscription from Beer52. (Craft beer complements the beard pretty well, after all.)

My first box was ordered yesterday afternoon (a special offer free crate, too!) and has already arrived, complete with a magazine and some snacks. This month's collection all hails from Estonia.
Now just to work out what order to sample them in...
