While I worked closely with him at the International Chamber of Commerce, when I exposed the creation of fabricated accounting maneuvers by the ICC's chief financial officer which were intended to increase the losses ICC Publishing SA, of which I was President, in order to artificially increase the value of a tax deduction to an acquiring company, Peter Wallenberg, rather than coming clean, preferred to disregard and try to bury the facts so as not to embarrass the ICC, so lost whatever respect I may have had for him.

"...I have come to the point in my life where I never pray for divine intervention any longer - petitioning "God" to fix all the problems in my life and in the world. For one thing I don't think of "God" as a divine superbeing regardless of how nice or how benevolent "He" may be. When I use the word "God," I think: "Abiding Presence" - an intimate life-giving energy at the core of all that is.
I believe this Holy Presence is indeed with us but I don't believe in a"God" who fixes or makes it all better - I think that's our job as human beings.
...The world is made better by each and every one of us assuming our moral responsibility to make it better ...."

- From The Desert Retreat House, a blog written by Paul Kowalewski, an ordained Episcopal Priest and hold degrees in theology, philosophy, and communication.

The Obama administration’s goal of rebalancing American foreign policy to emphasize the region has taken a back seat lately, but Secretary of State John Kerry sought, for the moment, to change that.

Lauren Bacall was often seen walking her beloved dog, Sophie, in Central Park, just a regular neighborhood presence on the Upper West Side.

Way overrated, perhaps because of the dearth of decent fine dining options in Westwood. If attending a play at the Geffen, eat elsewhere or limit your meal here to a pizza.

excellent quality, but i prefer it at dinner as the buffet lunch detracts from the service of those dining a la carte, as do the patrons to gorge themselves, making 3 or more trips to the buffet table.

Best breakfast in LA with superb omelets and good service. Highly recommended for lunch and dimner as well, with a great organic and, for those that want it, vegetarian options. The focus is on quality and they consistently succeed.

Located in a dicey strip mall Mario's is way overrated. Better Peruvian food, far better service and far, far better decor (with real cloth napkins) can be found further north on Vine at Los Balcones del Peru.
