www.Strongility.com Mountain Man Calisthenics: The Pistol  is a leg strengthener par excellence. It also helps develop balance and the ability to stabilize the torso. To do a pistol,  first, clamber up onto a huge boulder*. Stand tall and brace your core by tightening every muscle in your body. Stick one leg out in front of you and slowly squat with the other until the hamstring of your working leg touches your calf. Press your foot into the ground and stand back up. The foot (especially the heel) of your squatting leg must remain flat on the ground at all times!
*The pistol  may also be practiced in a gym or in the comfort of your own living room.
