Statutes Of Limitations protect rapists not children
#stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8Jv1
What are Statutes of Limitation on child sexual abuse? They are laws that say a survivor of child sexual abuse cannot bring their case to trial after they reach a certain age. In most states, the exact Statute of Limitations (SOL) is the victim's 18th birthday, or a few years after their 18th ...

Mothers protect children. Protective mothers protect children from a court system that abuses them.#stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8J2D
What does “protective mother” mean? In broad strokes, a protective mother is a mother who has a child with an abusive partner who, during the divorce or custody process, finds her abusive partner is threatening to take custody of her child. Often, but not always, these cases involve child abuse ...

I never believed it could happen. Is it my fault?
#stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8BzI
My child said they were sexually abused. What do I do? Tell your child you believe them. Thank them for being brave and for trusting you- as hard as this is for a parent to hear, it's harder for a child to say. Reassure your child that it wasn't their fault and that you'll keep them safe.

How can we individually and as communities prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
#stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8IRd
Can we prevent ACE's in a community? Yes. We know about effective programs that prevent most ACE's in the lives of today's children, and taking care of these ones in today's children will make them much rarer in the next generation. The majority of child abuse can be viewed as a failure of ...

Healing from abuse takes work and patience #stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8zEw
When the founders of Stop Abuse Campaign and I started talking about crafting an additional page to help survivors of all kinds of abuse find their way through the healing maze, one thing was certain: we wanted it to be fresh, original, and powerful. There are plenty of sites and social media ...

Read this national tragedy on how society willingly sacrifices children on altars of egos and ideologies #stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8yfl
To most mothers, learning their child has been sexually abused is among their worst nightmares. And being unable to stop the abuse despite almost sixteen years of effort, and being robbed of almost all contact with that child is a nightmare most can't comprehend.

The world mourns the loss of a young life, twice marred by domestic violence #stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q86nn
Today, the world is grieving for Bobbi Kristina Brown. Like them, I am saddened by the loss of a life so young, of someone who just started to taste adulthood. But I am even more struck by the tragedy of someone whose premature death was predictable and so preventable.

Neither the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual or the WHO support parental alienation syndrome
#stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8Iqh
What is Parental Alienation Syndrome? Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) is a theory created by Dr. Richard Gardner for use against protective mothers in custody and divorce proceedings. PAS is not based on any research but rather the personal beliefs, experience and bias of Dr. Gardner.

Why we don’t support Erin’s Law
#stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8Bjj
Why are you opposed to this bill? The bill is based on a good idea, but there are a few major problems with it. One is that it doesn't do any good for kids to disclose to adults who don't believe them or know what to do. A study that came out in December of 2013 in the Clinical Social Work ...

How can I protect my children on the internet?
#stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8B6r
What is child pornography? Definitions vary a little state to state and between the federal government and the states. Generally images depicting minors in sexual poses or sexual situations are considered child pornography, child porn or kiddie porn. Nude pictures of children are generally not ...

Maternal home visiting programs prevent abuse, neglect and maltreatment of children saves taxpayers $$ #stopabuse http://ow.ly/Q8Axh
What are maternal home visiting programs? For our purposes, they are programs that teach new mothers life skills, parenting skills and help them bond with their new baby, and that the mother engages in before she has started abusive patterns with her baby. They prevent abuse, neglect and ...

Igniting conversations to stop abuse
Introduction

We are a diverse team of survivors and supporters working together to stop abuse and alleviate its suffering. We hope you will join us.

Abuse happens on an incredible scale. It's damage is felt in every community.

A high school class of 24 boys and girls will probably have 6 silent witnesses to abuse.  A quarter of the children will be abuse survivors. Most of them suffering abuse at home.

Sadly our children have about the same adds of being sexually abused as they do of catching the flu.

One in every three women will be victims of domestic violence meaning if you are not yourself a victim you won't have to walk far to find a neighbor silently suffering.

Sexual, physical and emotional abuse effects us all and we are all responsible for preventing it. The Stop Abuse Campaign exists to make that easier for you. Both at home and in your community.

Stopping abuse starts with believing it happens. Take our pledge, become a Believer and we'll send you a prevention tip every week plus ways you can participate in freeing your family and your community from the fear and impact of abuse. We can stop abuse.

Join the Believers today and working together we will stop abuse tomorrow.

Click on the Believers link, join us and start making a difference in a child's life.

Thanks,
