New: Assess Topical Trust Flow of a Site's Back Links

When assessing the link health of a site, it's not only important to look at the number and authority of inbound links, but their relevancy to the site. It's been difficult to get a quick picture of that, until now.

+Majestic SEO has just introduced Topical Trust Flow, a score that takes into account both the likely trust level (i.e., how likely search engines are to trust the link) and the relevancy of the linking page/site to the target page/site.

Introducing Bing Predictions: Using Search Data for Real World Predictions

Bing today announced a new Predictions search feature that uses data from user searches combined with social signals from Facebook and Twitter to make predictions about real world events. In their testing they found that they were able to produce a high degree of accuracy for things like elections and viewer-choice awards shows or reality TV competitions.

In their blog post you can see that the level of data massaging, including adjustment for variables such as regional prejudices, is quite sophisticated. While it will show up for very limited search queries right now, Bing promises to expand the feature in the future.

Title tag tip: Create distinct pages for each user need, but don't "thin slice" too far #seo
Title tags remain an important part of SEO, and are well worth some attention. When writing your title tags, you should have one distinct page for each major user need you address, avoid overdoing the granularity, and never reuse title tags.

Our friend +Larry Kim of +WordStream with some words of sanity on +Search Engine Land  #seo   #plusonly

As Google's announcement today demonstrated, it's high time that search marketers learned to embrace change & stop worrying. -Larry Kim
Everybody loves progress, but nobody likes change. This adage is particularly true any time Google announces major upgrades to AdWords. If recent comments on Twitter are any indication, Google this morning was gearing up to pull your hair, throw sand in your face and take your lunch money. None of this is true. The Sky Is […]

+Amanda Sturgill Bing has always been more open about their use of social signals, although as our CEO +Eric Enge has noted, they don't seem to play as direct a role in ranking as they once did there.
