I found your podcast after Allie talking about you, plus someone on my Ravelry group recommended your podcast too. I think that though you were nervous in your first episode it certainly didn't show and you come across very naturally. It must be so hard not being able to get hold of all the nice yarn you see in podcasts. It's bad enough for me drooling over the US yarns and at least I know I COULD get it if I was prepared to pay the custom charges. I have visions of family members travelling over the visit with extra suitcases filled with yarn.

I'm trying to cut back on yarn purchases, so when a few come in a batch, I try and space them out over several podcasts. I've still got stuff from Black Friday that I've yet to talk about.

By the way Megan of the Stockinette Zombie podcast uses a lot of superwash yarns and she says that it will always stretch. What she does is wash it in the machine and lay it out flat to dry until it's almost dry (barely damp) and put it in the tumble dryer for a few minutes and that will shrink it back up again. Now I haven't tried it myself, so don't trust my word, but it might be worth checking around for that solution, or even just asking Megan.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and that I enjoyed the podcast. I've subscribed and if you ever set up a group on Rav, invite me!

Yes, I can't really see you wearing a Lopapeysa in the Middle East. I think you sticking to the lace is probably a good idea! I'm glad to hear you will soon have a yarn mule, but maybe your new Bahrain Knitters group can tell you where they get their yarn from.

I have finally got round to blogging about the hats I made for my nephew and niece before Christmas.
This year I decided not to knit any Christmas gifts. It was such a relief to remove that pressure from myself. However, just because I wasn't knitting Christmas gifts, did not mean my niece and nephew had to go without a handknit hat for Winter. The hat for my nephew was easy.

A simple project made stunning with the right yarn and buttons.
In November 2010 I bought a bargain of a skein of yarn at the Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show. It was a delicious skein of 200m of DK weight silk singles yarn in an antique rose colour. It was from (the then new) Artisan Yarns. There doesn't seem to be any products on their ETSY shop and I ...

A poncho knit in Malabrigo Worsted is a wonderful thing to knit and to wear.
As I have been playing catch up on my projects, it's quite nice to be able to say what I really like or dislike about a project once it's been finished and used. Sometimes the projects you enjoy knitting the most, aren't necessarily the ones that you use the most and vice versa.

I've used this technique ever since you showed it on your podcast. It's brilliant, thanks for doing a tutorial I can point people towards. I will say that if you are a Continental or Combined knitter, you will want to add a little more to your extra bit of yarn that you add after measuring out, because you need more length to tension the yarn towards the end of the row. Thanks again.
