Why we got fatter during the fat free, low fat, food boom. I've said all along, eat your fats!
In the 1970s, the U.S. Dietary Goals advised Americans to cut back on fat and eat more carbs to lower the risk of heart disease. But some experts say this high-carb, low-fat diet helped fuel obesity.

A burst of Spring color caught my eye, while out for an afternoon walk in San Francisco.

Beautiful! I'm starting to think that the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge is the most item in photographs on Google+ 😄

Very interesting, and slightly disturbing in some cases, to see what is the most Googled item in each country.

Recently, San Francisco was in the spotlight for toast. Specifically, the prices associated with an order of a slice of toast. One might think this originated with a hipster / artisanal movement. What's surprising, is that it did not. It began with Giulietta Carrelli, who has Schizophrenic Affective Disorder - part schizophrenia, part bipolarity - that afflicts her with debilitating psychotic episodes lasting days, weeks, and even months. For anyone who has been affected by mental illness, this story is a story of hope and joy. It's about 18 minutes long, and worth every minute. As you listen, you'll wonder how does toast have anything to do with mental illness.

John Gravois tells the story of a potentially annoying San Francisco food trend: artisanal toast. John explains how, in fact, the trend's origins are very down to earth, and more heroic than annoying. John wrote a version of this story for Pacific Standard magazine, where he is an editor. Hey, Yourself,+Stirling Spencer ! So much "artisal" this and that. Even as a Chef I find the trends a bit much at times. This, though, was uplifting as opposed to another foolish trend. Be sure to report back after your visit! I'd love to hear about the atmosphere in this wee establishment! XD

Life from a STIRLING point of view

If I had made all this ... we would have definitely had more than 5 senses, to take it all in ... and the Earth's rings would have put Saturn's to shame!

Living in San Francisco, CA

Originally from Carrizozo, New Mexico ... the absolute middle of nowhere.

All pictures I take are with my Android Phone. When I'm not taking pictures, I'm skiing, running, working-out, exploring, traveling.

I mean how could it not get 5 Stars?!? The views alone are worth 5 Stars. It's a beautiful, brown sandy beach front, framed by majestic mountain boulders. It costs about $7 if you are not a Nevada resident. There is lots of parking, but this can fill up during peak hours. Don't overlook visiting on a sunny, Winter's day...It can be quite beautiful in the Winter.

If you enjoy salads, Soma Eats just might have the best salads in all of San Francisco! Their sandwiches are good, but the salads are outstanding! Soma Eats is like a hybrid bar and cafe with a rustically modern vibe. Their beer selection is off the hook! Seasonal beers, and hard to find beers from around the world. Their "bottle shop" sells curated beers, fine wines and select spirits. You can enjoy these here and enjoy the atmosphere, or take them home. Soma Eats can either be a place to grab a delicious bite, meet friends for a drink or a little of both.

I do not like giving a poor review, however Zero Zero deserves it. I used to love this place, but the food has gone downhill. The only reason to go anymore is for their dessert sundaes...which are exceptional. We ordered a vegetarian pasta and they didn't pay attention when preparing the dish and put bacon in it...and that's just the beginning of disappointing experiences at Zero Zero. Go to Local Kitchen instead.. about 1/2 a mile away...it has much better pizza and Italian good.

When it comes to Morgan's, this small fish shack has all the heart and quality one could hope for. You just won't get any fresher New England style seafood unless you were sitting on the coast of Maine. It's surreal to fine this place in Truckee, CA. By far, some of the best fish I've had anywhere! It rivals to best seafood restaurants in the country. Fresh is Best and at Morgan's you will be WOWed by the quality and flavors of this small little gem.

Exceptional! He's my fountain of youth! I've been seeing Dr. A since the Summer of 2016 for IV Drip Therapy (infusing my body with hydration and nutrients). In addition, I've been taking Dr. A's vitamin supplements. I've noticed since beginning these programs significant increases in energy, alertness, health (I haven't had a cold since starting these vitamins) and much better sleep patterns. Dr. A. is on the forefront of ultimate body performance. Dr. A. is also a skilled artisan with botox! ... so now my face reflects the youthful vitality that my body feels.
