+Florian Haas Did my first talk using reveal.js after hearing you talk about it. Thanks for putting up your oscon slides; they really helped.
I'm really thrilled with the way my slides turned out, too.

Oh, I stole. i stole! lighttpd was the secret ingredient I was missing, though.

Not sure about Geelong, my job requires me to work on the dates that LCA usually happens, but if I can make it, I will. Better practice my guitar before I get there, though.

I've just discovered what happens when you add "set editing-mode vi" to your ~/.inputrc file.
The world will NEVER be the same again.

Starts in insert mode, and that seems to be the default. Press escape, though, and suddenly the bash prompt responds to vi keys. hjkl, dw, 0, w... it all works. It is such a relief after using the arrow keys to delete that one package name that causes a huge apt command to break.

If you are using Bash 4.3, you can add the following to ~/.inputrc as well:
set show-mode-in-prompt

This will draw a + at the very start of the PS1 when in insert mode, and a : when in command mode.

For anyone wondering, the Catan in the latest Humble Bundle has hot-seat multiplayer, which makes it a slightly better steal.

The lecture notes for RMIT's Unix/Linux course are .ppt files. Something about that feels.... wrong, somehow.

Golly! We've been going about it all wrong! We don't need decent internet, just magic pony-powered compression.
Problem solved.

Just wondering if this has done the rounds around RMIT yet: http://bit.ly/mycroftai
Joshua Montgomery is raising funds for Mycroft: An Open Source Artificial Intelligence For Everyone on Kickstarter! Uses natural language to control Internet of Things. Built on Raspberry Pi this whole home A.I. plays media, controls lights & more.

I'm thrilled to see this has met the funding goal. I still have reservations about the privacy issues, but knowing that /nothing/ will be sent over the wire until mycroft is invoked is a comfort.

I love the German language.

I was dabbing tears from my eyes by the time the beer showed up in this story.

I'm really enjoying my sessions here. There are no "Workouts of the Day"; every session is planned out individually, and they are *very* well planned. Whether I do a half hour or an hour, I always leave thinking "that was utterly the last rep I had in me". The team seem to be able to push me perfectly to the limit, and I always come away thrilled that I managed as much as I did. My partner and I have done a couple of sessions together, and Collective put together co-operative goals that mean our different abilities complement one another, which makes them great fun.
