I'm very interested in the +OnePlus phone running +CyanogenMod for as little as $300. But this "Smash the Past" campaign, seems to allude to getting users to smash their phone to be able to be one of the first 100 to get this new Android device.

If you have a functioning device, why do this? It's so stupid. Just donate it, give to a friend/family member, or even keep it as a backup. There's no need to destroy a device that still functions.

I have a feeling this marketing campaign is going to backfire on them.

I'm a big fan of +Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. I too also do most of my work in Lightroom-- generally about 95%, and only use Photoshop to do minor retouch/removal. Let's be honest, content-aware is just super awesome.
