As I’ve been using StartSSL for a long time to secure everything from SMTP / IMAP to this web site, I’ve gathered quite a few certificates. The scene has changed quite a bit these days with Lets Encrypt becoming available with free certs (but limited to…

Q&A - Concept Software  -

Firstly, I'd like to thank Sony for opening up this concept program - I knew from day one that people were going to install this software from a non-legit source anyway - so its great that you have opened this up to all of us :)

Now to my questions :)

1) My carrier in Australia (Telstra) is rolling out a huge 700Mhz LTE network - this is classed as LTE Band 28. While my phone is a D6653, I have still flashed the D6603 firmware to it without issue. If I go into the ##SERVICE## menu -> Configuration, I notice LTE_BC28 is listed in the "Working Bands" list. Am I understanding right that this means 700Mhz LTE is working in this setup?

2) I am working with my carrier to test their VoLTE and soon VoWiFi setup. Can you please advise if these features are enabled in the Concept Software? I have no problems with configuring APNs manually, but haven't found a way to see if these features are turned on at all.

3) I'm testing IPv6 on a network. Can you please advise if the ROM will autoconfigure via SLAAC (and RDNSS) or if it also requires a DHCPv6 service?

Anything else I'm missing? :)

I totally get your point and I have made my voice heard about this before but I doubt it will happen.

+Andrew Dodd - So, I haven't been following the whole Sony camera thing.... Has any progress been made with the custom ROM stuff for the Z3 with Omni / CM without losing all of the quality of the camera?

I'd love to go back to CM or Omni again on the Z3 - but the camera performance was a massive deal breaker....

I'm interested, I chose the Z3 compact for Bec to replace her Samsung Galaxy Mini phone AND the Samsung WB550 camera simultaneously. The Z3 camera performance was the deciding factor, along with Sony's supposedly amazing support of the open source community...

Quite a while ago, I applied to host Flight Radar 24s receiver at my place near Melbourne Airport, Australia (YMML). It started off with the ID F-YMML1 (being the first in Victoria), but a faulty unit saw the handle change to F-YMML4. With it, there was a…

I have to say, I’m having a hard time to get this song out of my mind today. So its my duty to infect everyone else with this earworm.

A comrade has died. I always feel sad when I read about these kinds of things. As yet, the female student pilot from RMIT Flight Training has crashed on her first solo cross country at Millbrook. News coverage – ABC, 7 News. Aviation is an unforgiving and…

Hi all,

So I've just joined up and downloaded the TFT for the Z3. I'm wondering what the difference is between the D6603 and D6653?

The TFT I downloaded is marked as the D6603 - and I believe it will work ok (just flashing now), but I'm also wondering if there is a different flash for the D6653?

One of my key things is LTE band 28...

Bug Findings  -

My car kit does a phonebook transfer to the head unit which it displays with pictures for dialing / call status.

Recently I've noticed that the pictures displaying are not the correct ones for the contact being displayed - for example I'll have a company logo next to my SO's contact.

Has anyone else seen this?

I've forced a resync between headunit and phone, but still get the incorrect images.

Yes, same incorrect image each time. Have already reset car kit. Only thing I haven't done is to depair and repair the connection.

Just wanted to write a quick note to explain why the current nightlies aren’t working. The openwrt servers had an outage recently. As of now, svn.openwrt.org, downloads.openwrt.org and I think lists.openwrt.org are still down. As the nightly builds feed…

Last night I made some changes to the build process of the generated images for the WD N600 and N750 routers. Starting from r48362, the following changes are active: The designated_driver_luci repository is enabled by default. This allows people to…

Google always pimps good videos. Here is one. In breathtaking 1080p, its awesome quality to watch. What is it that makes us human? Is it that we love, that we fight ? That we laugh ? Cry ? Our curiosity ? The quest for discovery ? Driven by these…

We got our puppy desexed here. Our puppy came back to us terrified of what was going on around her. For a day or so, any tall male that came near her she went into a full on panic. She eventually calmed down and seemed a little more at home - so we didn't think much more of it at the time. When we took her back to get her stitches removed, she was happy entering the vets offices until saw the vet that did the operation and went into a full panic again. I have no idea what happened during the desexing - but I'm quite sure that this is not the normal reaction that animals should have. Our puppy has been to different vets before (for vaccinations etc) - but has never acted this way before or since. The scar that was left from the stitching was very ugly and the stitching was blotchy and uneven when we got her back. Would certainly not recommend this practice for procedures like this.
