Each year, four international science institutions compile temperature data from thousands of stations around the world and make independent judgments about whether the year was warmer or cooler than average.

“The official records vary slightly because of subtle differences in the way we analyze the data,” said Reto Ruedy, climate scientist at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies. “But they also agree extraordinarily well.”

All four records show peaks and valleys in sync with each other. All show rapid warming in the past few decades. All show the last decade has been the warmest on record.

As I was browsing TED the other day, I had a thought that I felt was worth sharing. If you have about 50 minutes to entertain the idea, I'd encourage you to do so. If you do, please leave your comments (however critical; all comments are welcome).

"Your experiences can change your connectome."
"The mere act of thinking can change your connectome."

So here's my idea based on the work of these great presenters:

Every thought that you think, however seemingly insignificant, not only reshapes who you are, but also reshapes the lives of those around you and those around them and those around them.

So, take special care to be deliberate with your personal connections, sensory input and even your thoughts. For, they will not only redefine who you are, but, for better or worse, will also redefine the ones you love most.

Or, worded differently, the palette you choose to paint with leaves strokes on others' canvases.

However, that appears to be related to locality (at a rate perhaps resembling the curve of an inverse quadratic ( http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=1%2F%28x%5E2%29 or https://www.google.ca/search?q=1%2F(x%5E2) )).

Thought it was an interesting concept, was worth sharing and was interested in any feedback or other related sources that you guys might have. And even though it may not be prfound to note that we affect those closest to us the most, it's interesting to see some science to support it.

Hope you've enjoyed,

Steve

Ahhhh... at last... someone wrote a real webserver

Freeware License

http://gwan.ch/

http://gwan.ch/benchmark

http://gwan.com/blog/20121001.html

Also, it's reportedly never had a security vulnerability in the 3 years that it's been in production.

G-WAN is a Web server with Java, C#, PHP, C, C++, D, Objective-C/C++ and Scala scripts and a Key-Value store which outperform all other solutions.
